I would start at 6v and test the temps on the servos, keep them under 130 or 140 on the case for safety. You can always increase the voltage and get more power, but you can't unfry a servo if you overvolt it.
Is overvolt a word???? If not, it is a holmesism.

I will hook it up tonight.

I will let everyone know.

Thanks

I run 7.2 packs to my 5955's, and they hover around 120 degrees while bashing.

Just to keep everyone up to date.

I finished the wiring and did a test run on the wife's rock garden

The Regulator is pushing out 6.05V with 8cells.

At first everything was working great. After about 3 mins, the rear servo (HS-945MG) started getting weak. It would not turn or it would not hold center when turning front only. Took a temp reading...hear is what I found:

Regulator = 94*
Front HS-5955TG = 118*
Rear HS-945MG = 148*

That is the problem...these things are heating up and then failing. They work great when at ambient temp. Soon as they get above 120* they are useless.

What could be causing it to heat up that high?

Is my option only to go to another digital servo?

I have a comp on Sunday...Panic has set in...

Let me know.

Thanks,
John

That is what I am thinking...It took me a long time but I think I nailed it. Now I just need to find a 5955 or the like before Sunday.

5955's are great servos, but if you can't find one and are running a radio with EPA, you can also run HS-5995TG servos, same 333 oz at 6.0 volts, but 180^ rotation instead of 90^. The other advantage of the 5995, is if you up the voltage to 7.2 volts you'll get 417 oz of torque!

I tried that before when I first started having issues. I will look at it again but I don't think that is the problem.
