What exactly was the reasoning for this build? I guess I'm kinda confused because there are a lot of 4wd buggy sized chassis out there with 4 wheel independent suspension that would have been a better start for this project considering they have bulkheads that are already designed to be mounted flat on a chassis and use better geometry... Maybe you wanted something extremely "scale" which in that case I think the Element IFS really isn't true to scale in any regard compared to the 4 wheel independent vehicles out there... Considering the price of the IFS kit it also doesn't seem like a practical use for it in the front and rear in this application either. Don't even get me started on all the incorrect geometry for the rear end also... I hope you don't take this as a negative comment, I really am just curious as to why you decided to use the two IFS kits instead of other options? You've done a great job with the build regardless tho!

The idea popped into my head after seeing the Element IFS kits, so I ran with it. $100 each for a small IFS setup was fine with me and I am aware of the shortcomings of the IFS geometries. I wanted to keep it smallish 1.9 tire's so the kits let me do that with no effort. I am not aware of durable independent suspension setup that keep the track width under 10"? They are probably out there but the Element kits are just too easy to build and go. The GOM chassis just fell into place after doing some google image searching for chassis ideas. I was going to build a chassis from 3/16 tube but wanted to keep it sub 6lbs. This build was to give me a challenge to make an 1.9 IFRS car that was kinda scale looking, lightweight, kinda good for fun U4 track racing and do it with simple tools. It does not shine in either of those categories, so I met my goal. Again, I think up builds in my head and just start building, sometimes they turn out good and other times not. This one is a heck ton fun to drive!

Hope to have a full decal kit before too long. Swapped some wheels and tires to compare handling. Old HPI Interior. |

Sweet build! Question will 1.55 wheels fit on the element IFS? |

That buggy AND hauling truck both look pretty badass! Definitely a great improvement with the driver and co-driver added.

These are some older RC4WD 1.55 beadlocks. They spin freely but it’s darn close. This is a narrow axial hex too. Quote:
Thanks. Yah, an old HPI MTDT driver set. Needs some window nets. Full decal wrap in the works.

[QUOTE=Szczerba;6020133]Totally depends on your wheel and wheel hub offset options. Thank you for the info and pictures. |

So far so good. They have held up just fine on my small little track and some bashing. I am not trying to break it but have drove it hard. Reason I tried to keep it as light as possible.

Hey random question, but since you've held these ifs kits in your hands. Do you think that they would hold up to 1/6 scale, if longer arms were printed and axle shafts were sorted out?
