Default Carnage report

Post all your carnage here.

So far all I have broken is a stub shaft.

Wow, that's a lot of stub shafts.. Any idea as to the culprit? I'd heard that over tightening might do it, but was curious as to what you all that have broken them think? Or is it just piss poor components?

Been driving my OCM for about six months now, and have yet to break a single stock part.

And a couple of the VARCOR guys will testify that I am not particularly conservative in my driving style. Just gotten lucky so far I guess.

My wheels were not overtightened. I tighten them, then back it off a half turn. All my breaks have come from big flops that lands squarely on a wheel. I've taken several big flops on the Axial stubs and they are holding up fine.

I've not been to gentle with this truck. I have pushed it thru some pretty rough stuff. I also use plenty of throttle to drive out of bad situations, which usually just drives the truck harder into the ground if it doesn't drive out of it.

Yes, I had to drill out the Berg hexes just a little to get the Axial stubs to fit thru them. Or you can just run Axial hexes.

I noticed in my little bit of run time - about 7min - that the front drive cup are wearing really fast. It looks like the metal is too soft. Will see what happens after running all day today.

Bent stub shaft but it was my fault for throwing the rig.

After breaking the first two stub shafts I just replaced them all with Axial ones...

The only think you really need to watch is; the screws inside the gearboxes, that hold the tubes on have a tendency to want to back out. If they do, they will get munched by the gears.

I know of one person who had that happen and I have kept an eye on mine ever since.

Everything should be taken apart and locktighted prior to running.

Nothing so far, because I haven't run it. I see that the inner shafts don't line up with the kingpins perfectly, so the front cups will wear fast and cause binding if it isn't taken care of. Has anybody else noticed this?
