In 20 seconds you answered how quiet they are and how sweet that steering is! Good stuff!!

I have a little over 25 packs though the crawler now so I open up the gear case to take a look at the gears. I could clean them up repackage them and no one would know they were used gears. Will really did a great job on them.

Ya, Will is killing it right now. I haven't seen the gears in person yet but I'm sure ill be impressed. I've had the rc4wd gears in all summer with similar results. Very quiet and virtually no wear. I do however plan on making the switch in gears for next season.

The last two times out crawling I have notice something wrong with my servo. So tonight I took the servo apart to fix it and found the top bearing was blown out. If you look at the upper left part of the gear you will see a nice pile of the ball bearings. So I put in a new bearing and ready to crawl.

Throw all of the pieces in a bag and mail it to Hitec. They will take care of it. Rebuilds often need a lot more parts than you can tell with the eye or by hand. Don't chance replacing the bearing alone and calling it good.

That servo JUST came back from a rebuild at hitec. We sent in 4 7950's. So I took apart one of the other "rebuilt" servos (still had bad gears) and swapped over the bearings and put a new case on. Cleaned, inspected and greased it of course :)

Was this it's first rebuild? Please send it back again. Hopefully they replace it with a new one this time. Explain how short lived it was post rebuild. I've seen this as well and now I only use virgin servos in my comp rig. I used to use them after three and four rebuilds but they just don't last after that much wear. Now when a servo comes back from rebuild I it in one of my Traxxas rigs or I give them away. As with any machine, rebuilt is not as good as new. Let me know if you have any more problems with it.

Cheers,

J

They were all virgin rebuilds. We usually do a gift exchange and send all our servos in at once. I think I shipped a total of 15 servos in  I haven't touched my serviced one yet.

Truck looks killer in person JB! Crazy how well that polishing is holding up

Beerman's Berg: RcBro/ Secret Agent Chassis

Before the comp this weekend I limited the rear shocks a little more. Here's a picture that shows the spacers i used to limit my shocks

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/21/agasysun.jpg

On course two driving through gate ten I broke one of my carbon fiber rear upper links. With the geometry that I like to run, when my suspension is fully compressed the rear upper links make contact with the motor. The carbon fiber doesn't like that kind of stress. So the carbon fiber rear upper are not going to work for me. So I order up some 7075 rod to make new links out of. If you plan on using carbon fiber links make sure to have everything clarence

Here is a picture of the broken link

Re: Beerman's Berg: RcBro/ Secret Agent Chassis

Why not just limit the rear shocks externally to keep the suspension from bottoming out on the upper links?

I did try external limiters but I wanted my crawler to compress more. I really didn't think the carbon fiber would break so I took the external limiters off. I really need some rear links with a bend in them. I feel this would give the crawler a smooth and predictable feel.

Went out and crawled about five packs this morning. I got one good video clip of the crawler side hill stability. This crawler just flat out works on side hills.

I'm so glad to see Jaybe tinkering and tuning his truck!
That means I don't have to do it. And I can drink beer and take pictures of him!

This is not a crawler update, the point is to show how sweet it is to live in Oregon. The first video I'm shooting a Ruger 77/44 chambered in 44 mag, the suppresser is made by Tom Denall in bend OR. I'm shooting at a steel plate at 100 yards. You have to watch the video a few times to appreciate how quite the gun is. The bullet hitting the steel plate is louder then the gun going off.

The next two videos are of my M16. It has a 10 1/2 inch noveske upper and a bushmaster lower. The first video I hold down the trigger for 20 rounds and then in the second I do some control bust.
