Yeah we have no rocks but plenty of dirt and sand I havent seen any one riding ther FOFF on water ? A slightly upped e-maxx with paddles wont cut it lucky i insisted we tested that on shallow water first. |

| I haven't found any water in the areas I drive this rig yet. If I do, I will make sure it's shallow first too. |

How much does the suspension on your rig actually work Brad? Is there even enough weight in the chassis to make the shocks absorb bumps and jumps or do the tires do most of it?

| Quote: It actually works more then I was expecting. I went with soft springs, and 30wt oil. But, my shock piston holes are small, so the oil feels thicker. It felt too stiff to me after I built them. But, feels great when driving. I definitely don't have a lot of travel, but it seems to me like I have enough. | |

| clearly we did not have what it took in the heavy e-maxx back then. i better forward that skimming video to my friend I assume we could mount the engine and a even bigger pinion and then assemble the rest of the gearbox around that to get more power and some heat on the motor + esc, witch by the way is pretty cold after 10-15 minutes with the current setup ( pinion same size as hole in creeper gearbox and 3S witch is all the esc can handle ) |

Great build, looks like tons of fun to drive! I already have a CC 4600kv brushless on my RTRunner build, now just need some paddles and a new body... That Axil spur gear cover looks like a trick part. I need to pick up a few of those but CKRC an Tower are out of stock, how do I get some? |

The spur gear cover is the ticket for sure. But, some motors will either require trimming the end of the pinion shaft, or drilling a hole in the cover, as the pinion shafts are too long. This cover is intended for standard 540 motors. I did the latter of the two, and covered it with a little electrical tape. I am going to use some styrene and shoo goo to make a permanent, more air tight fix though. The spur gear covers haven't hit the hobby shops yet, but they should soon. | |

| Post #39 here has "My AFOR info" link to my FOFF. We called it AFOR for American Formula OffRoad but F'OFF has a nice ring to it. Mine is an OFNA Hyper 10, Novak HV4.5 Big Can, MMPro and Sand Paws and a Hyperion 4KmAh 4s. Before that video I ran across that water about a dozen times. The rig has complete steering control in the water as seen in the video, the last pass it veers to the right and I correct it left back to the water's center. This one was purposely built just to satisfy my hydro curiosity but it sadly smoked the ESC when it stopped in the video. I'm not too sure how and Axial tranny will handle this type of power without all aftermarket parts, including an Al trans case to keep the bearing from deviating. I'll have a thread on my Unlimited FOFF going up this weekend hopefully. This one is purposely build for water too, including internal buoyancy precautions (much deeper water crossings). A Platinum 4x4 Slash is the format. These toys are crazy fun for me and I'm glad it's finally interesting others. |
