Is it finished? or does it still need that extra $200 that you said you'd sale it for earlier in the thread It looks great! I really would like to make one. I just bought this micro rc from ebay, and hopefully it will be easy to do some mods to it. That's if I ever get it, it started out in Hong Kong |

It's not finished. The $200 would be for labor, unless I'm supposed to do the work for free?

Wow, twice as much as the truck is actually worth, just for labor? Oh well no matter, I don't plan on buying one. It is one awesome little truck though It'd be nice if losi stepped up and introduced a micro crawler, and then have micro crawler comps. Now that'd be cool.

Looks awesome RRB. What do you have up your sleeve as far as the tires go? Last edited by GreenRiver; 03-14-2009 at 07:58 PM.

| Thanks dude. Quote:
Let me explain this again, I'm not building this or any others to sell. The only reason I gave a "quote" was to give an idea of what it would take to build one because the question always comes up. I'd rather someone built it for themselves, it's easier for me and more fun for them. I'd be more than happy to offer assistance, and have before. I tried to show as much as I could of the process in this thread. Give it a shot, anything can be repaired. Quote:
Thanks, it's coming along. Got another set I'm working on with a much softer rubber compound.

| Listen kid, me and redrustbucket go way back on this micro stuff... back before you got your pubes. He never specified what he had up his sleeve on the tires, I took that to mean he had another tire option. Judging by the pictures, he is still using the same tires as before... so nothing new. If I missed it, please point me to where he revealed what is different. Being a little jerk-off is no way to make friends in this hobby, so learn to bite your tongue the next time you get the urge. |

Tires are done. I narrowed some off a 1/20 Tamiya kit I had. Bit of a toss up as to how much better they are. They're taller so they throw off the cog a bit more than I'd like. Need to make some repairs and do some more testing but the weather's been so nice I've been out surfing, boating etc. I'll try and get some pics soon.

Sort of making progress. New tires out of narrowed 1/20 Tamiya Desert Duelers. They're a tad stickier but side hilling is worse due to higher cog. Gearbox separated so I need to fix that and do some more testing to see if I want to stick with them. If I do I'll need to trim the body some more as well. |

Nice man. I really like the looks of them... if they were a tad shorter they would be perfect. COG is crucial on the side hilling but that ride height would be nice on those for going up and over.

My thoughts exactly. I was too much of a wuss to try sectioning them as I only had one set that I got with a model from Japan to the tune of $50. Decreasing the diameter would have made the bead too small to fit the rim as well which added up to a lot more work and a good chance they would end up out of round. The clearance is nice but the large diameter puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain. We'll see I may try reworking them. Tires are usually the most difficult thing to find in a soft compound the right size. Last edited by redrustbucket; 05-21-2009 at 08:55 AM. |
