I thought about those too, but with 2 deep cycle batteries you'd only get about 30 minutes of run time with the engine off.

We always have a generator or line power when we are at these events.

The smallest thing I can find is one by coleman and it's still pretty big.

Not tied into the van, just powered by 110.

How much power are we talking? What size generator? What size power cable for line power?

Probably the most compact unit you'll find would end up being a roof mount. I know you probably don't want to go there, but anything else would take up valuable room inside the van.

We have a 2000watt generator, I know it's a little small, but a small ac unit should be fine with that.

I am fine with a roof mount but we are limited on overall height. About the smallest one advertised is the coleman polar cub, but it's still over 10.5" tall, and 9200btu. Doing the math a 5000btu unit is still too big for our needs, but would be fine.

Here is the coleman unit:

Target has little 5000btu window units on sale for $80, one of those would be perfect if there was a way to mount it without looking white trash.

2000w may to be too small if you plan to run all your equipment at the same time as the a/c. A normal sized rv ac ( 13k-15k btu) will pull 16-18 amps on a hot day (2100+ watts), and will peak for a second up to 60+ amps when the compressor cycles.

Duo Therm makes a 11k btu unit that is 9.5" tall. Its the shortest one I know of. I don't know the power specs off hand, but I should be able to find it, and it may fit within your power range (it'll be close if it does). Its way overkill for that little van, but should your regular gig fail, you could always use it to get a job delivering frozen meat.

http://www.rvfunproducts.com/duother...c3766df308ebf1

Otherwise, you could do a semi-permanent mount with the window unit. Fab something up to take the place of one of the rear windows in the van. Carry the ac on the floor, get set up, pull the window and mount the ac in its place. Reverse the procedure when you pack up to go.

We only have about 6" to work with on the roof of the van to still be able to get it into our storage unit.

The window mount would be great if we were using a trailer, I'd just stick it on the tongue and build a box to hide it. It isn't going to work for the van though.

why not just make a closeable hatch on the side or in the back door? once you get to your destination, put it in the hatch, and viola! nice cold mobile man cave!!!

I hope you are planning enough space to put a Shifter Berger despenser . You always need food when traveling.

Make John drive the Van. Nobody will look twice after they see him driving.

Side note if I remember right we could only put 3 or 4 usb extensions together are we gonna be close enough to be able to cover most of the action. Or did John get new longer cables?

What are your guys thoughts of pass out those cables out of the Van?

The window unit would only look like white trash on the way here ,after you get here, you'd fit right in. Have Neal make an ice cube wrap for it, then it would look good for the trip.

Maybe one of these on the inside some where. Walmart has a 7k btu for 170$ but this is the only link I could find with a quick search.

You guys should throw a small RV awning up on the roof rack so your not stuck setting up the EZ-Up and trying to find a place to stash it in the van.

The van is looking killer by the way and I'm loving the wrap!!

I think that would fit in there, and it's pretty small, we'd just have to plumb a drain and a heat exhaust and be good...

That is about the longest you can run the cables, they just loose signal after that. We should be able to park fairly close to the action.

We may eventually put in a pass through, but for now they'll just run out of one of the doors.

We thought about that, but they require the legs to be mounted onto the side of the vehicle, in the rear it'd be great, but not sire about the front.

Yea Neal did a great job designing the wrap, I cannot wait to see it done live and in person.
