| RCC's new Competition Support Vehicle
Traveling to comps, setting up all of our equipment and running the events is a ton of work and wear and tear on our equipment. Everytime we go to these events we bring 10's of thousands of $$$ and having it all sitting out in the heat and dirt is very taxing on it and dramatically shortens the life of all of it. After the Rocas event Badger and I started brainstorming and decided we'd see if we could get a van going in time for Nationals. A little looking around and we found a great deal on a van from R2J right here on the site, an hour drive north of me and we had our van. I dropped it off to our mechanic to make sure it was soild, after some routine maintenance we got the green light. Now you all know we couldn't just show up in a bone stock van, that just wouldn't be our style. A quick call to Freq e tag our go to graphics guy and we had a plan in place. We touched base with a few of RCC's vendors and got them on board for the project. Here is the van when I picked it up. |

While Freq e was working on the wrap I decided to run down and grab a new set of wheels. The van is 5 on 5 with so our choice were limited, but I think these 16" Helo 842's look good. Don't mind the leak, it was hot and that is the AC. |

Insulated the inside with some 1" foam and it will all be getting covered in white paneling and there will be carpet on the floor. Here is a mockup of the desk that will be going in there. |

Next up I ordered up 10 VisionX solo solstice lights to get mounted in a custom roof rack. These lights should light up the entire area all around the van for those times a comp runs a little longer than expected and we need some light. Each one puts out 800 lumens of light and only uses 10 watts. With the 2 big deep cycle batteries we'll have inside we should be able to run all the lights for about 10 hours without having to start the van. All the lights should work great for those late night parking lot bash sessions and sword fights we get into as well. Last edited by jason; 08-18-2010 at 05:14 PM. |

in the next week or so we'll be taking the van for a trip up to the Carnage Crew Garage and have Aaron and Kris work their magic on building us a roof rack. The roof rack will be the full length of the van and with have a solid bottom so we can get up on the roof to film, take pictures, or just spectate. We'll setup the vision X lights off each side of the van so we have full coverage with light. Up top we'll also put mounts for our internet antennas, and our PA system speakers. |

After nearly a month of bouncing ideas back and forth here is the finalized wrap design done by Neal at Freqeskinz I hope to get the wrap installed this week and get to work on the inside nextweek. Last edited by jason; 08-18-2010 at 07:53 PM. |
