Default Exceed Maxtstone 10 Build

Hello, My name is Dillon and I live in Northern Michigan and have been into Rc for about a year now.
I have a brushless ecx circuit and I recently had a sparked interest in crawling
I was unsure where to post this as I couldn't find an exceed sub forum. But I am happy to announce
that I have bought the maxstone 10 and I am very happy with it so far.
My plans for this build are that I am planning buying the scx10 chassis
and lower links. I will also will be buying a trail honcho body. And replacing
the 2.2 tires with 1.9s. I''m kind of thinking about making it scale as possible.
As far as the truck so far, It has had my 2s lipos in it and boy is it a slow truck.
But it makes up for it in torque. I was very happy with its crawling ability.
The esc and receiver are water proof but the servo is not and
Im planning on replace it with a traxxas 2075 and possibly a metal servo horn as well.
The Gears in this truck are metal and I had no problems so far with the
diffs or trans. I did how ever have both drive shaft work there way off the
drive pins but that was fixed by simply re-torquing down the set screw.
I also change the positions of the lower links and changed them with the
shock position so the links are closer to the truck. I also removed the front and rear bumpers
and no I'm going to dremel the bumper mounts on the axle and smooth it out and jb weld it back together.
So far im happy with my crawler and I'm really growing on the crawling scene compared to my other backyard basher.

Below are some unboxing pics (Don't mind my feet)
and some crawling shots from when me and my buddy and his twin hammers went out.

We'll I'm surprised nobody has responded to your post yet, but on behalf of everyone, welcome to crawling, your gonna love it
Don't worry, I'm sure there will be someone along soon to tell you to post this in the newbie section lol.

Have a good look around the site, there is literally too much info to take in. I believe the crawler you have bought is at the lower end of things, but, with a bit of tweaking, will impress you more and more.

I have the same truck and am putting a T-max size Silverado body on it with stock wheels and suspension for a scale monster truck look. Going to paint it candy apple green to match the aluminum bits. It's a great truck for the price, you really get a lot. I heard the motor is a really low turn 70T or something so that's why it's slow. I might try an axial 27T in it later for more speed. There should still be plenty of torque. This thing really has more power than it needs, but that motor and gear combo really work well for slow movement with high power over rocks.

I have one, Ive changed the shock`s put rock beast tires on it, and have a Gen 3 Dodge RAM body on it painted black and copper, this was my first crawler, Im thinking of changing the pinion gear to a 17 or 18 tooth from a 14 tooth to get a bit more speed, they are pretty good for the money have not broken a lot of stuff, they just make you want a better one, cheers

Welcome and good luck. I have two of the Max10's because I liked the first one so much I got a second. They will take every AX10 upgrade I have tried so far, some bolt right in some take a slight bit of modification.

Ok So this maxstone is about to turn axial scx 10 really fast.

I just picked this up for 60 bucks on ebay, and it includes links.

Then I bought the axial 27t brushed motor, I think I'm going to
stay brushed because I never want to deal with cogging....

I should be able to use all the electronics on the SCX10 frame and
so far I am happy with the performance and waterproofing of the stock electronics.
I am also going to use the maxstone 10 axles and drive shafts and I'm going to run the 2.2 tires
for now until I can find a bead lock 1.9 rim I like.

Then when that is done Ill have a Maxstone/axial Hybrid Scaler RTR for under 280 dollars.

Pics will follow as soon as I gather all of these parts.

And I can't decide between the honcho or rubicon bodies, any suggestions?

The SCX10 chassis came in today, still waiting on new drive shafts.
I used the 120 mm shocks off the maxstone (Sits real tall) along
with the axles and electronics
Everything bolts on easily with out much modification so far.
I think when I add the axial 27t motor and
put in the gear box might need a little mod to fix it to the plate.
I also added a metal servo horn.

But heres some pics of my progress

Why do you need new drive shafts? Did the stockers break or do they not fit now?

The stock drive shafts were crap, The grub screw wouldnt stay seated and I torqued it down so many times I stripped the threading on the old drive shafts.

Im planning on going to as many aluminum parts as possible.
So I went with the Hot Racing Scx/AX10 aluminum HD driveshafts.

They should have no problem fitting. I will post more pics when my Axial 27t
motor and Drive shafts arrive.

Up date one my maxstone/scx10 hybrid.
I bought the stampede c10 body and sprayed it black.
I also shortened the wheel base to around 11 inches.
Im still running the stock maxstone transmission but I have a scx10 trans with slipper clutch coming.
Im running Hot Racing drive shafts.
But here is the pics the way she sits now.
