Problem solved, how about a Proline By The Fire on each coast, seems to me they could pull that one off. I would be willing to say that would pull a pretty big draw on the east coast.

The 18 hour drive to Prescott AZ was worth it for the rocks even if nobody else was there.

I vote Colorado for next location.

Effe the West and East Coasts, you cannot beat the Rockies! I've had some epic crawling just stopping off the highway

I'm down for that. It's pretty close to west coast ;)
Colorado and arozona both have some incredible terrain.

But then...

Utah?

IM biased but we are spoiled here with Moab, Cedar City, St George, Sand Hollow... the list goes on.

i think Utah has the best terrain for any crawling event

So no different than Axialfest then?

I'm not sure why they call it Axialfest anyway. We know stock Axials don't exist. So let's call it what it is - AftermarketFest.

That would be completely pointless, and wouldn't pull enough people to make it worthwhile for Traxxas to have the event.
If Traxxas sponsored an RC event why wouldn't they pull and Axial and tell people that only their brand would be allowed?

Raushe Creek is a dirty, disgusting place to run. Our club has events there and you rigs get covered in nasty grimmy oil residual, mixed with brake dust that refuses to come off.

The terrain is actually pretty craptasitc, unless you like driving down rock roads, or on a big slab on concrete has so much traction my rig will climb a 70 degree hill.

Given all those acres and acres of trails very few of them provide interesting terrain for scale rigs. Its either flat trails with intermittent rocks, or stuff is too large to crawl and you just drive around it.

Barely worth the hour and 30 drive out to it, if it wasnt for the people we gtg with I wouldnt pick it as a destination.

The PNW really is 2 completely different climates. I'm from the desert but I enjoy talking to people that have never been here so they assume I get constant precipitation. Uhh nope.

Way back in the dark ages we had a base station and talked to most every 18 wheeler that regularly came through Oakridge. Had many cups of coffee with them at a long gone place called Bink's! Before your time??? The nice thing about traveling 97/58 is not having to chain as many times as I-5. Next time through take the time to stop for a cup. I can send you a phone #

I hit the highway 12 years ago, guessing binks is the closed restaurant next to the car wash?

I used to run I5 from the bay up to every grocery outlet from Ashland to Seattle. One day I was talking to my cousin about how slow I5 was due to the mountains and he asked if I'd tried 97/58. Huh, never heard of her, tell me more... first trip on that route saved me 2 hours to Portland. I never took I5 again.

I'll be in touch, we run from south of k falls up to Salem several times a year and I always have time to stop & chat.

Actually Bink's was on the east end of town, nothing but a vacant lot now!!

Cool, would like to say hi. PM me when you are getting ready for your next trip through Oakridge.

Oil and brake dust? Are you running on the 1:1 spots?

I don't exactly know about Rausch Creek since I only ever rode on the tracks, but Tower City, which I believe is right next door, had lots of various terrain that would be fun for RCs.

I don't think you guys realize how epic axialfest really is...

And for those that want it in the midwest/east cost:
Find a private campground that can hold 1000+ people, and will allow you to completly take over it for a couple weeks, and modify the surrounding terrain.
Has enough different terrain within the area to have 10+, 100 gate, 2hr+ trails on all different types of terrain.

Then come back and complain how there's no place around you similar.

Ah I forgot Rausch went to all 1:1s. It used to be for ATVs and motorcycles. Maybe the other side of Rausch (ATV/motorcycle side) which was formerly Tower City would be a much better place to hold the comps.

Thats the big thing...Having the room for everyone to camp, closing the place off to 1:1s, and having good enough terrain to keep it interesting. Cisco Grove is perfect, especially because of the weather and terrain.

Traxxas isnt all that far from Barnwell Mountain, which might fit the bill for an event for them. That clay can be a b**** if its wet. Hot Springs ORV Park would also be good.

I think you over estimate how many of us actually want to go to such an event. If it was appealing to me then I'd go.

Pretty sure there were over 2000 people there last year, that's a pretty solid number.

I believe you are correct about that. We camp on the 1:1 side so generaly dont go over there.

While I havent done axialfest, I have done g6's, and a 6hr 7.4mile trail run along will 1000 gates was pretty epic.

More people need the chance to run these types of events.
