If someone chooses to "jump" as you put it up an obstacle that doesn't mean they HAD to which would insinuate that they lack skill and/or throttle control. I always try to crawl first and if & when that fails that heavy throttle finger comes out till I either make it, give up or scatter parts whichever comes first. The days of scattering parts are few and far between now that money was put in the right places. Some people spend endless hours making a rig that has incredible details so they can take it out and show off their handiwork on slow and easy trails. Some of us crawl but aren't affraid to pin it should the situation call for it. While others pin the throttle and bounce off of everything. No one is wrong and no one is right. It's the end users decision how to treat what they have spent their own money on.

wow i just wish i could find time to run one lol. I spend all my rc time building it seems but when i do get a couple to run one im all about being as scale as i can.I try to build these trucks as scale to the 1:1 as i can get and then to drive it like its a monstertruck in a video just looks silly to me..to each his own...

OK, link to video of my driving style. Scale? or no scale? It's not extreme but it's not driving on the sidewalk either. Comments? scx10 Hilux off-road adventure. - YouTube |

I run an SCX10 on 2.2 ripsaws with a RX8, and a Pro4 on 4S, ( yes it will handle it) you can guess how i drive it. lol. we do a lot of hill climb competitions with ours, and yes we break a lot of parts ,but its what we like to do. Most of our rigs will climb hills that you can not walk up, or even stand on for that matter. That being said, we do still crawl some when we go to some of the more rocky places, and they still crawl just as good as the 45t brushed rigs.

I like to stay as scale as I can..but that said I do drive like I would if I was filthy rich and able to replace broken parts and trucks for that matter..if I was to drive the way I would in my real life scenario I would have no fun as I take extremely good care of anything I pay good money for...1 more thing when I am doing my filthy rich scale driving style I do drivev as though I have a 500 horse power rig that will slam down some axle twisting power if needed to clear a obstical...oh and brushless of coarse cause I have no intrest in driving my rig through mud and water I am way too ocd for that.actually I spend more time maintaining my trucks than driving them which may seem boring to most but I just like to take care of my things..

I'm with the OP... hammering yer rig into dust... doesn't offer much scale appeal for me. I suppose if yer born with a silver spoon in yer mouth... you don't really care what might be abused or destroyed. I don't really care what video's folk post... But usually ignore the ones that show a rig bouncing along a like toy. Sadly... there are few, true to scale, crawling video's posted. but thankfully they are occasionally posted here. here's a preview of how I roll... Dug up a 2 year old thread to talk about how driving a toy truck slowly is better than fast. Fawking awesome. |

Hauling ass is scale, otherwise, they might as well do the Baja 1000 on tricycles |

| Re: Scale Driving..am I the only one? Let me see if I have your "logic" correct. If someone doesn't drive their toy truck in a scsle manner they are retarded? Even if the 1:1 their rig is modeled after is a go fast. Yup someone is retarded alright... |

I wouldn't have known that without your clarification. Lol I must be at the wrong site... could've sworn this site was a crawler forum !? ~damn internet~ Not sure how rock bouncing and WFO designates a crawler rig ? but I'm almost certain you will clear that up for me

Pretty simple really. Crawling has progressed into both ultra 4 and rock bouncing in the 1:1 world thusly they have in the scale world as well. Not a hard concept to most.

I really enjoy Noob's, Imthatguy and Headquake's videos. The scalest of the scale, the driving, and the cinematography is second to none. Ultra4 is great, and should be fast (I love it). But a honcho with a Pro4 flying around a trail is ridiculous. |

you have failed to sway me. There is no such thing as a progression to, or variation of. crawling is crawling... WOT is WOT two different classes that share little operational distinction. a crawler is purposely built with lower gearing... and that lower gearing usually entails slower crawl speeds. Rock bouncing or WOT rigs are not crawl rigs. And tho' possibly considered scale in their own right. ~give you that~ But they are not crawlers. Do you not comprehend the nomenclature of what designates a "crawler" ? I can easily bash my rig and haul WOT... but then... It isn't really a crawler when used that way. Just because you can call the kettle black... doesn't mean it is
