| Re: RC4WD Gelande II D110 Truck Kit w/Hard Body build/review Lol yeah apply the paint one light coat at a time. And make sure you put a layer or 2 of clear coat to protect the paint. Tomorrow is Friday, that means I'll order my D90 on Saturday afternoon. Yippee! |

Have you painted the body yet? If not, make sure you have that video playing when you're painting, it helps out trememdously.

Heh San pankisko lololol I'm never going to stop saying that....damnit Nice slash bro. Did Traxxas ever make a VXL version of that model? I have the Jeep Wrangler, just like you. Mine is pretty modded though, far from stock. Custom driveshafts RC4WD 6 lug wagon wheels 1.9 RC4WD MIckey Thompson Baja Claws (4.75" OD) 1.9 Titanium links made by a local friend AE5 esc and 2s 50,000mah lipo(I've gone through 3 this week....I need to ditch axial electronics) Solar D772 servo STRC steering kit Custom light kit CVD's Hard top Proline roof rack And soon to have a Defender 90 shell. Then we can have some fun with an exocage, more intricate light kit, scale accessories including axles, and last but not least, a camper trailer. I have this huge list of mods and my wallet couldn't be any more empty. Ugh I need like 6 jobs.... |

| Re: RC4WD Gelande II D110 Truck Kit w/Hard Body build/review Well, write down exactly how you would go about painting the shell. This is how I would do it: Acquire a plastic body (the most important step IMO) and purchase paint according to how you want to paint the body. Make a quick sketch on paper about how you want the truck to look (this is important so you don't get half way done painting and realize that you trucked up big time.... Lol) Wash the body with soap and either dry it off with a hair dryer (don't tell the missus you're using her hair dryer) or use a microfiber towel (a CLEAN one, using a dirty one totally negates washing the body haha) Gather newspaper and old magazines or poster boards and place them on the sidewalk/ driveway. Get something to support the body off of the ground (I use old paper towel rolls or empty tubes of marine grease, just make sure the body doesn't touch the paper). Place the body on the supports (make sure the body won't be pushed around by the wind or the air from the paint can) then, shake up the paint cans, and paint your first light coat of the base color. (If you want black with yellow stripes, paint a thin layer of black paint all over the rig. Please excuse my TERRIBLE version of an RC car lol, but when you are painting you should paint asterisk to asterisk. This is somehow a RC car? Don't judge haha * "o=o- * By painting like this, you will prevent paint from pooling up on the body and making very unpleasant bubbles in the paint. It's ugly, trust me. I trucked up and make a huge puddle on the roof of my 1/36 shell....it was a BIOTCH to fix... Then let the paint dry for about 10 minutes. Then paint on a second coat, wait another 10 minutes, again and again until you get the desired color. Then take it into a controlled climate after the last coat dries, and let it there overnight. The next morning, mask off the body to paint the second color on. Let the paint dry and paint on another coat. It takes patience, and a lot of it. But in the end you'll love the outcome, and the rig will look amazing. Almost ;) If you want to make the rig look bad-arse, follow this link and do what he says. It seems very difficult, so you can try it out on a 1/24 plastic model you find at craft stores. I'm doing every step expect for the last one, I really trucked that up when I tried it on the 1/25 Jeep by Revell.... Hope this helps, now go get painting! I wish I had a 50,000mah lipo. I could drive non stop from Friday night to Monday morning... But it would take soooooooooooo long to charge it unless I have a 500a charger.... Traxxas does that on purpose I think. They make cars that are beginner friendly but break often, then the owner goes out and buys more parts from Traxxas. And it works too, that's the problem lol. But guys have taken Traxxas SCTs to Nats and beat losi SCTs.... So I got no beef with Traxxas. I'm probably going to get a merv on Sunday so I'll get to experience their extreme power to weight ratio, and crack up at the hilarity But if you dint like the slash I'll take it from you. I have $9 left in my wallet...you can have $9 and a 1 day old leather wallet and I can take that slash from you And thank you, and like I said. Don't be afraid to use a 1/25 model to see what words and what doesn't. And if the 1/25 looks good, you can have 2 of the same defender, just different sizes! Good luck on painting, are you going to try to do it today or tomorrow? | |

Just ship it to your house using the USPS. That's what I do to save the lipo hassle at the airport. I always get yelled at for those damn lipos |
