Do you think I should get a plastic one or an aluminum one?

Do you guys think 22ga sheet metal is thick enough for the mounting bracket?

Entirely up to you. With your tight budget, plastic is cheap and should be just fine as long as you can control your tightening of the screws. If you're concerned about it that much, buy an aluminum housing and use loctite on the screws.

Hey guys, I ordered a plastic transmission case, so it should be here in two weeks. I will make a cross member to mount the transmission to. Now I have to figure out where to mount the electronics.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or ask in this one, but ill ask any ways. Were do you guys think I should mount the electronics? I can't mount them on the rock sliders because there isn't enough room for the body to sit properly. The body is a New Bright Jeep TJ, and the frame is home made. Pictures would be great.

Looks like im a little late as you've already ordered, but here is an aluminum one for $20 CDN with free shipping. Ugly colour, but if you still want to upgrade to aluminum it won't cost you much.

I made motor mount out of 22ga sheet metal then that was flexing, so I made one out of 1mm steel. I mounted the electronics on the rock sliders and lifted the body 4mm's.
