Rich T has been pretty clear in stating that an Ascender II is not in the works right now.

I think he was suggesting Axial should combine the best elements of the Ascender and the SCX10 II and bring out a new truck which would be the SCX10 III.

Doesn't particularly look like it.

AR44'ish diff cover, scale intake/exhaust tubing accessory, and a grille?

Looks like it's going to be another SCX10 II with a body full of scale accessories. I mean, come on, please let it be more than that or it's going to be a WOMP, WOMP.

I'm guessing a new SCX10 body, possibly Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro or Chevy Colorado Bison

With so many things being discontinued, particularly build kits, this would need to be something popular for a world wide market, otherwise it doesn't seem to fit the business model as of late. As to what will it be, no clue from me. I just hope that it can be harvested for scratch build parts!!!

One of the LHS around here said they have an unidentified delivery coming from Horizon tomorrow, which it how it goes with new releases for preferred dealers. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on whatever it soon.

Yeah, at that zoom it looks like a grille. That tube looks very much like a Mog snorkel.

I wonder if they’d go for portals on it if it is a mog. I could be talking myself into seeing things but it looks tall in the first pic and that diff cover seems a bit different than the normal AR44.

Brilliant hypothesis.

I know almost nothing about Unimogs, but don't they all have portal axles?

While I'm not a big fan of portals on RC vehicles where the 1:1 is not commonly built with portals, I would not be a big fan of a Unimog RC without portals.

And Landrover Defenders and International Harvester Scouts never had them. Seems the majority don't care about scale details any more. But I agree, a Unimog without portals is like a Landrover that doesn't have leaky diffs and severe rust problems.
