What is the brand and diameter of your 32 pitch 67t spur gear?

Looks good! did you have to change the spur and pinion gear sizes to get things to mesh up???? If so what did you go with?

Mine is actually a 66t not a 67t.I had looked at so many spurs at the LHS that I got confused a little.Happens as you get older.
Its 2 3/32" diameter and made by Kimbrough.Make sure you get a spur that has a lot of mounting holes, like 16 of so.They have a 68t one that has 8 I believe, and none of the holes like up.

i just installed my wk tranny in one of my trucks i have not clocked the motor yet but will make a motor plate this week i hope i went to 96 tooth spur and 14 tooth pinion 48p ground the case a little and had a 16 tooth pnion on with stock 90 tooth spur it was to fast though
i had thought about switching to 32p are you guys happy with them they are so noisy and less ratio to play with thats why i have stayed 48p

Thanks for the measurement...looked at the first style with lots of holes at my lhs and looks like four of them line up with the four HPI holes...but it was in the package so not for sure. May go with the RC10GT spur with only two holes and drill my own...that is a beefy spur gear!

I don't mind if the motor is all the way up against the tranny. Biggest 32 pitch spur my lhs had was a 66 tooth for the T-Maxx (Kimbrough which run really smooth and quiet), so I bought it and am going to drill the four mounting holes in the spur. The spur for the RC10GT looks like it is 'module' pitch teeth are slightly different on close inspection. What is the smallest pinion that you can run with a 66 tooth spur and a standard brushed lathe motor?

I'm running a 70 tooth spur with a 8 tooth pinion. E-maxx gears work fine, you just have to find something to line the stock spur and the maxx spur up for drilling. I used the chuck end of a big drill bit in the center holes of the spurs to align the holes.

Honestly, this trans really kinda sucks it's huge and has a poor ratio.

Yeah I really wonder who's the dumbass that made the tranny gear ratio so crappy. Coulda at least got 2.25 out of it...

Dang 8 tooth from who? RC4WD or?

It wasn't designed to be a crawler tranny. If they dropped the ratio more they would have had to use a 30 tooth pinon. Remember that the buggy tranny's you're comparing against don't have an additional 2.9:1 reduction in the axles, so they run more reduction in the tranny.

It's still poor when stock, say I wanted to put a faster RPM motor like 10 turn in it I would still have to gear down. Whatever, it is what it is I guess.

I was working on putting the motor backwards like. Making two plates that stack together as so the motor can stick out the front so you don't have to worry about the case being in the way.

That idea actaully crossed my mind before I dumped the stock tranny all together. If you are running the stock chassis is there room to protrude the motor forward and mount it below the spur? That would make a big difference in CG.

I will have this figured out very soon, if someone hasn't done it already. I have been working on it for the last two days. Some of the clearances kind of suck, Brushless anyone?
