Default The OFFICIAL SCRC 2010 indoor comp thread

With so many people asking I decided to talk to R/C Hobbies about dates...

All comps will follow the same format:
Sign in 11 am
Comp start 11:30 am

Location: remote control hobbies Naperville I'll
(1/4 mile south of i88 on rte 59)

Jan 16 2009. 2.2 comp class only
Feb 6 2009. 2.2 comp class only
Feb 27 2009 sportsman class only

Judge volunteers are needed for each date. I may not be able to attend the Feb dates so I may seek a volunteer if a BoD member is unable to run the comp.

These comps are free but, a donation jar will be present to help with I-hobby costs.

There will be a march date added in the near future

Is this how the comps normally are ? Comp class only on one day and then sportsman only on another ?

From reading other threads I thought only Scale class was on separate dates . While comp and sportsman were ran together on same date .

summer is different. We can only run 1 course at a time in winter so if we tried to run 2 classes it would take 6+hrs and noone wants to be stuck in a hobbyshop that long.

I may try to do this as well for myself and 1 kid. Still putting crawlers together for the first time

My 5yr old may get too frustrated and just want to do figure 8's in the shop.

What is the main difference between comp and sportsman class? Is
it just The use of a dig unit?

Basically, sportsman is:
1 motor
Drive shafts
No dig
No rear steer.

I anticipate motor limits, tire limits and battery limits but, the full rules have not been announced.

The original idea was that someone could take a box stock rig and be competitive. The rules comitee is trying to make it into a drivers class, our club is trying to keep it a budget beginners class. They promise that the official rules will be out soon.

Sounds good so far. I just will have a stock LCC and kids will have Venom creepers. Hopefully not to basic a vehicle to have fun with.

As a BoD member....I can attend all 3 events (as of right now). IF work sends me out of town I may have to decline a date. As of now, I leave for Tamp the day after the Jan 16th Comp, and I return from Orlando the night before the Feb 6th comp.

Any photos of previous comps so I have an idea of what the typical course looks like?

Pile a bunch of rocks in a pile and you have it... seriously though, they were working on locking the rocks down with some foam so I have no good idea what it will look like myself.

The foam did help last time we where out crawling. I do hope they leave some of the rock movable.
