I picked up a couple Tamiya YJ bodies recently and ordered chassis material. I have a couple ideas.

Yeah, bring them bodies.. If anything i'll just shelf them for you and use them for ideas and/or somewhere down the road maybe chop em' up for a project in which case i'll let you know and we'll go from there.

Well, I cancelled the order for my welder in time before they could ship it. After thinking about it for a while longer and discovering new potential side jobs through work, I decided that specific welder may not be enough to do the job so, I upgraded. After investing thousands, it would suck for a job to come along that the machine can't do so, what's another few hundred to make those potential jobs a reality. I went with the Syncrowave 210 AC/DC Tig & Stick Welder. It's a stage or two above the Diversion 180 I was looking at with a TON more features built in as well as expandable options, built in cart, on board storage, etc. It's a larger unit but, still a inverter machine that is generally pretty portable. I think i'll be much happier with this machine in the long run and I figured if i'm going to do something, do it right the first time. This is a big investment for someone with minimal TIG experience but, from what I hear, this is one of the most user friendly and best machines to learn on. With the amount of online help & free instructional videos out there, it's just a matter of me getting the seat time to hone my skills. If I completely fail well, I have the Toyota of TIG machines so, the value will be there for a while. Wish me luck! I'm pumped! |
