Default NIRC junkyard build/prize.

What about this idea..its not really an event, but more of a junkyard build that we all pitch in on, and then use as a prize for an event this summer/fall.

Here is how it works:

Im sure we all have some parts laying around that never get used, and really arent worth the time in selling or whatever. What if we all donate something towards a class 2 or 3 junkyard roller. If you donate something towas the rig, that is your buy in to potentially win that rig in the event we all agree to have it as the 1st place prize.

For example: i can donate 5 barely used proline Flat iron's G8 1.9 tires and weighted beadlock wheels off my old honcho, and some proline scale accessories.

The idea is to build a rolling chassis that all the winner would have to do is put in electronics of their choice into (unless someone donates electronics) and start using the rig.

If you dont have parts, you can donate time in assembly, or you can source some cheap parts to donate. You can donate as much, or little as you want (within reason) donating 1 m3x8 screw is not a donation, but donating a small container of assorted screws and hardware would be a great donation.

The object is to all have fun, be honest about it, and we can all put into something that could be a really cool event prize that we would all like to work for in a comp.

What do you guys think?
Any ideas or opinions?

Sounds like an idea. I have a full Honcho Body with a nice Blue Flame paint job. I am sure I can come up with other stuff too.

I think that's a great idea.

I think I've dealt with damn near everybody in the club as far as business transactions go so, I can volunteer to collect these junkyard parts and apply them to the build and prepare it for the giveaway. Maybe we could even do a Junkyard Giveaway Truck build thread?

I'll look right now what I have available.. Mega Fattie.. Maybe you could make a list in the first post with all our names and donations. along with what we need to complete the build and such?

I think a transmission, axle's, and a frame are going to be the harder items to obtain.

I think i have more parts, but i cant think of what i have on my hobby desk right now.

It's coming along pretty quickly.. I think this could actually happen.

cool concept. everyone throws in a couple of parts they have sitting around, It all goes together to create a Frankenstein truck and somebody wins it!

All it takes to enter is a parts contribution.

I already contributed but, I have other parts as well. Don't want to give away all of my goodies.

If it comes down to it, we could do exchanges or something so, one person doesn't end up feeling like they contributed more. Like, I have shocks and a servo in there..but, I also have a front axle in inventory. Now, we'll say that, all "Bob" has to contribute is a servo but, It's not currently needed..but, If I were to swap out my servo and replace it with a front axle, then "bob" could put his servo in there.

Id also be willing to do some fabrication or brazing to make a front bumper to throw in the junk pile.

I also have an extra set of proline 1.9 wheels wrapped in solder that came on the honcho, brand new rc4wd foams that need cutting.

We all probably have too many parts, so post up what you might want to do, we can always swap names and items until we get an equitable list.

I also have a set of HighLift axles if push came to shove.
