right now its 2 standard sheets of foam insulataion(the pink stuff) not super sure on the exact size but its only maybe 8 feet long and 3 feet wide so im looking to expand and add a matterhorn style hill or a climb of some kind. but im just maxxed out on room in my basement. id like to have a 50 foot coures laid out like a trials course with bridges, straddles etc... but we'd need a morton style building for that layout. but i dont have or no anyone with one of those so im think about maxin mine out at 15 feet or so

I'm down for some winter comps. I work construction so a little cold isn't stopping me. As far as an indoor space, I have a 30'x80' shop/garage that I was thinking about putting a small course in. Been collecting scrap foam and plywood, but havn't decided what to put on it for a "ground cover". I actually thought about trying exterior drywall compound or dryvit with fibers added and spraying thru a texture hopper. Then add some rocks, etc while wet. I might make a test spot to see if the compound will hold up. Be sweet to go to maob, but I'd need either one of my 1:1 jeeps done to justify going out there. It'd be like going to a whorehouse with only $2 in your pocket. |

Cover your foam with grout or some cheap ready mix create. That's why I have to bring some 4x4 to moab. I built the trailer to haul the rig there, it's done. Now I just need to finish building the rig. |

Guess I should be filling you guys in a on the section of the site you can't see. The new comp rules voting. These are the most current rules for the 2.2 class. I plan to run the rules to exacting standards (Hopefully) as so when some of us make it to nationals we know how it works. As you can see the 70% body rule was defined. Other areas of the rules just got more descriptive. • Vehicle wheelbase is a maximum of 12.5 inches, measured from centerline of front axle stub to centerline of rear axle stub, with all the wheels pointing straight ahead. < VOTED 11/29 > • Vehicle track width is a maximum of 12.5 inches, measured at the bottom of the outer most edge of the front and rear tires while the vehicle is sitting on level ground. < VOTED 11/29 > • Wheels limited to 2.2 inch diameter or smaller at the tire bead surface. Wheels may be modified, provided that the tire bead surface does not exceed 2.2 inches in diameter. Tires may be modified using a pliable rubber material, from any size tire, but must not exceed a total uncompressed outer diameter of 6 inches. < VOTED 11/30 > • Limited to 4-wheeled vehicles only. < VOTED 11/28 > • Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering only. < VOTED 11/27 > * You must run a body, 10th scale or larger, 70% of the original body, to be determined by judges, 3" minimum height on sides, no more 3" taken off of total length, no less than 12.5" total length and full width in the center. Tube chassis's are fine, as long as they resemble a 1:1 rig, they must retain a roof, hood and side panels. < VOTED 11/29 > • Body should resemble its original form (jeep bodies look like a jeeps) * you may run a unlimted amount of channels on your radio. < VOTED 11/29 > We voted today to just leave the super class rules as they currently are. Except with the addition of the 70% body rule. I'll fill you guys in as more is spread. |

Yes, that is correct. Here is the super class rules. Class 1 - Super Crawler Class: • No limits on wheelbase, vehicle track width or height. • No limits on tire type or size. • Limited to 4-wheeled vehicles only. • No limits to steering configuration. • You must run a body, 10th scale or larger, 70% of the original body, to be determined by judges, 3" minimum height on sides, no more than 3" taken off of total length, no less than 12.5" total length and full width in the center. Tube chassis's are fine, as long as they resemble a 1:1 rig, they must retain a roof, hood and side panels. • Body should resemble its original form (jeep bodies look like a jeeps) |

Does my tube chassis length have to be 12.5" long. Also it's not based of of a 1:1 rig either. Look for the build thread. It's not really a tuber either.

That's good news. How long before the 2.2 rules are out for everyone to see? |

I guess they are pushing that you will need to run a body for nationals. I don't care if you run the unibody around here though. Rules won't be out for a while, they really like to explore the options and get several opinions before closing a rule. I know they still have to discuss digs and a few other things for the 2.2's. |
