Nice! I was wondering what body you would use for this, had no idea you were scratch building one! I'm sure this will turn out just as awesome as the rest of your rigs, watching this for sure. |

Some inspiration for you. Saw this one just yesterday at Harbor Freight in Sterling... This should be an interesting project... |

nice man. thanks for putting up a build thread, even if it is gonna be really slow. looks like some good progress too. just a note. the axles i use on my jeep willys are 8.25" hex to hex to give you and idea on a width that could work. where are those custom steel axles? |

After seeing the 6x6 in person, I have high expectations for this build. |

almost done! the looks really good man. nice job there. you gonna just leave the back open with a cage like your 1:1 with no soft top on it? Last edited by mjderstine; 11-07-2013 at 10:13 PM. |

Gonna do a removable soft top like the 1:1 and no tube work other than the stock roll bar so it won't look like the 1:10 scale one I've got. Going for the SOA & bigger tire look. If this one turns out good I might build another one with the caged back half and make it a little more capable.

Chopped up some steel for the frame, however I noticed when looking at the 1:1's frame it's not a "C" channel type it's actually has a boxed section. Good for the offroad beating these things take but bad for ease of scale building. So I'm gonna have to make two "L" shaped sides then weld them together to make a rectangular box section Thinking about what tires to run on this thing and had an old set of rock crushers laying around but they looked a little weird with the huge tread blocks so I took the grinder to em and they look pretty good now, very similar to axial's BFG krawler tire, not sure if I'll end up using them but crazy how shaving a little off the tire changes the look so much Last edited by sellenk; 11-13-2013 at 09:21 PM. |

Nice work, the crushers look good ground down a bit, not sure the size of those, but I do have the Axial krawlers and they are a smaller 2.2 tire.

Excellent work so far! Do you have any pictures showing the actual panel forming process? I've been kicking around some ideas in my head for a metal bodied rig but haven't quite figured out how to get the body lines, corners, etc. just yet. Thanks for sharing!
