A Gladiator update: The rear end was a bit more than a drive shaft pin. The inner bearing in the diff exploded and pretty much fried the ring and pinion. (repaired with new parts). The front servo was getting sloppy so I started looking at it. Savox 1230 with 500oz of torque had a cracked top case. I decided to go for a upgrade, bought a Hitec 7980 with 611oz of torque.(Better last forever at $184 with a new clamping horn) It's a bigger servo than the 1230 and it has some serious power! At 6v I can't hold the wheels from turning and I'm about to crank it up to 7.4v. Gonna go thru the ball joints and replace some of them, getting sloppy. I'm finally going to order new shocks this weekend. Should be ready for this weekend!!! Last edited by Norton; 09-24-2015 at 08:36 PM. |

I'm going through my Gladiator build also. I'm adding new axles and 4 channel DX4C transmitter and reciever. I also installed the other day some Crawler Innovations single stage 2.2 tall in my RocLox. http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psdxsftasb.jpg |

Looks like your going to be running moa's in it? If so, I'd be interested to know how that works for you.

Did you end up running a regular bearing, Thrust bearing or bushing? I read a lot of controversy on the bushing but i am not sure it is valid. Dang. That is some major TQ out of that servo. Decent speed too. I like Savox but i am running Hitec more and more. If one blows up they are 20min from my house so win win if i need it repaired. What shocks did you choose? Did you go a different length or the same? | |

I run Fast Eddy bearings and will keep doing so, considering how much abuse they have taken already. I can handle a blown one every once in awhile. (I did shim it this time though for a better gear mesh) On the shocks I think I may just order new shafts and a rebuild kit. I'm happy with the performance of the 103mm G-Made Zero's. Just can't roll it 6 times going 20+ on pavement. I have a extra top case for the Savox, change it out and save it for one of my 1.9's. Last edited by Norton; 09-24-2015 at 11:39 PM. |

Small update: Crawl for a Cure is this weekend so I've been prepping the rigs. 1/6 Willy's went from sprung to full droop. I also lost the stock diff gears and lockers. I went with overs and unders and HR spools.

As for the Gladiator, after killing the shocks I can across some 104mm Kings and thought I'd give them a try. Installed them and did not like all the body roll and the fact that they were just to frail. Took them off and sold them. Back running Gmade Zero's again. I also installed a Hitec 7980, brutal power! I know this is large scale but here is my 1/10 Nukizer with the custom bed I made. Pretty stoked on how this came out.

Gladiator update: Had a great time at Crawl for a Cure last weekend. Spent Friday night at my buddies and he made me up a nice front bumper. Just finished weathering it. |

The Nukizer looks BA. Nice work and excellent detail. Scale points big time for that one. I like the stubby bumper but maybe its the pic. Are the light hoops big? |

Your Nukaiser turned out really nice, I like the weathering and the soft top. The grill guard on the Gladiator turned out nice too! |

I finally got up the balls to do what I've wanted to do for a long time. I actually cut one of the Gladiator bodies in half. This is just a mock-up at this point, I have some styrene work to do to the back of the cab and finalize the bed design. The last pic is kind of inspirational. Not saying it's going to end up like this, I tend to change my mind a lot. It should be pretty cool when it's done though.

No plans on throwing the bed out at all. Thanks on the VW, actually there might not be any rust on this version of the gladiator. |

A small update on the Gladiator flatbed. The bed is still just a mock-up even though I painted it. It's only pin nailed together with no glue. The bed is going to about 1" longer and I'm still not sure of the fenders. All the wood grain will be filled on the final bed and the windows will be cut out also like the beater Gladiator.

Any particular reason for cutting the angles on the bed, or just something different?
