Thanks! I'm an industrial designer so I guess I do have the right job. Working on this is fun because it doesn't have to be mass produced or be as cheap as possible or done by a certain date etc.

Oh Nice! This is the first I've heard of Evo. I just checked it out and it looks pretty sweet.

that is crazy! you've got some skills. you should do this on a sct/rally platform and have a gyro so he leans automatically when you turn. that would be sick!

Haha good idea. That would be cool. You could hit jumps and try to adjust for the landing in the air!

It's still running. I'm talking to DANALLY about a better motor. I'd also like to extend the wheelbase but I don't know of any longer torsion/leaf chassis I could buy

I think that's about the coolest micro I've seen yet. Looks like an absolute blast to drive, makes me want to buy one of these

Here is a slow speed test followed by some crawling with the new 90t motor. It works great!

New Toy: 3d scanner!

Now I have access to a 3d scanner and a 3d printer. So...

The legs for the guy are made out of solid rubber so they were really heavy. I scanned one of the legs, and then printed it shelled. So the inside is hollow. It went from 18g each to 7g.

The time consuming part is painting them. I'll get to that later.

I have so many extra parts now I was thinking about building another one. I need the transmission and axles though... Anyone have any spare parts?

I would love to have that scanner!!! Awesome! New leg looks great. Let us know how it works with the lighter body.

I'm really impressed by the amount of development you've given this idea and hope it starts a trend.

One thought though - you could increase the amount of movement available if you mounted the servos ABOVE the universal joint and linked the pushrods to fixed points on the chassis.

The servos could be right up in the chest area, adding their weight to the movable ballast, rather than to the chassis.

Also, it would be really cool to have the helmet pan around, perhaps linked to the steering channel.
