Default Jim's Track System! O.o

Ok been quiet about this for a long while. I ordered some VSTank tracks, they are 1:24th scale accurate parts. I got one of each size. Each link is a master link so they can be made as long as necessary. Inexpensive too... I need to make some rims and the rest will be laser cut Delrin parts.

I've been looking for a set of tracks for a non-crawler micro project. Care to give up your source?

Banana Hobby... They have a great sense of humor there. I put in the customer special request to draw a tank on the side of the box...

Yes I plan to. Thanks!

@ Danally, The diameter of the gear that runs the track is .819" so it will be very slow. Some simple math lets us do a comparison. If the stocker travels at 12" per second, and the wheel diameter is 2" then the RPM at the axle is 115.

RPM = ((60 * speed) / (diameter * PI))

So with the smaller gear output the Wheel Speed is now 4.9" per second.

Speed = (RPM (diameter * PI) / 60)

I believe there is a larger pinion option, but I'm going to need a motor with a lot more speed. Let me know your thoughts!

I also have a bunch of motors to send you. Thanks!

Tracks are so cool looking but I have no use for them in the desert...NO SNOW! They still might be fun to play with.

Send me motors any time I travel so much this time of year I sit in hotels at night. I take my motor winder with me and it gives me something to do.

As for a faster motor, I would just try a Atomic BB 34t motor. They fit right in and are ready for the 2 cell lipo. They are a bad choice for a crawler normally cause they get too hot and are a bit touchy and fast.

I never burned up an esc on one but I bet I got close. With all the extra gearing the tracks give it might be an ok motor to run. If it is, I can wind others in that range that might run cooler. I can turn a 50 turn losi that is as fast as the Atomic 34 turn...at least within a few %.

Let me know!

Got the sprocket designed with losi micro hex.

I'm printing 4 of them now, along with a stock, fastback and truck style Specter chassis.

Please excuse the gawd awful Phillips heads!!!

I need to loosen up the sprocket tolerances, but preliminary testing looks good.

Come on now, don't do this to us. Bolt them on! BTW, forgot the little bracket to keep the track assembly from spinning around as a whole. You can still bolt them up for looks!

How well will the printed sprocket hold up, as compared to a machined delrin?

Didn't forget, I've made provisions. There's two screws on the back side where the bracket will go. ;)

I need to build 3 more! lol

It's simply not as strong. We will see if it is strong enough though. I do not expect any issues.
