theres a guy at our local track, he has a losi mini truggy scaler, he put a traxxas mini brushless system in his, its a hoss.. idk what all he has done to it, he wasnt much of talker, kinda had his nose stuck up in the air when you asked him about it, so i got about as far as he telling me he put the traxxas 1/16th brushless system in it... on 3s battery it was launching off the ground, could only guess how it would do in the mud and dirt and stuff.. if it was me i would have had a 2s on it, 3s was over powering it bad

Would the 380 motor fit? The 370 seems to have a bit of space left so I guess this would work.. But then I see 3 cables on the motor and I only need 2 as far as I can see.. Check this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/TRAXXAS-1-16-VXL...item45f83e8a80
And as far as I am concerned it is pretty waterproof, no holes on the outside I guess.. ;)

I had a 1/16 vxl slash - awesome motor for going fast, but fair amount of cogging at just off throttle. For a waterproof option it's completely solid - took it through mud and water many many times (basher, heh). I think I'd make a custom tuper-ware case and go with something else.

Thats gonna have alot of torque, but its gonna be very lacking on wheel speed. You can try to overcome that by gearing and volting up.

so run a tall pinion,like 15+ and 3s

20t pinion is pretty tall.
nio mater what motor yo get,you need to tune your gearing to suit your needs and motor, esc, batteries abilities.

If the 33t is what you wanted, then maybe you will be happy with 45 on 3s.
In all honesty,I would not suggest a 45t for comping.A heavy mrc scaler maybe.

Ok so after reading this whole thread im still not any smarter then before. lots pf pros and cons for this and that but nothing that really answered my questions i had so i will post it up

I have a stock MRC and i made into a scaler for my 5 years old daughter. but its not fast enough. I have numerous trucks and they all go faster, I dont want her MRC to keep up to my SCX10 but want something thats gonna be alittle faster then what she has now.

I want to stay with stock batteries cause i have lots already and i want to keep stock ESC.

So what motor would all you other guys with lots more experience then me suggest?
thanks in advance

I would sugest a mongoose brushless system with 2s, and if thats not fast enough, bump it to 3s.

no its not waterprof, and I cant speak for how it runs on nickle cells.

I ran mine on 2s and it had alot of speed.

If you want a fairly fast motor thats brushed and cheap~ish....I'd say a mini mod 17t..just realiize that your gonna sacrafice low end torque for speed
