Started out with the go fasts back in the early 90's. Lot's of fun, but you need a lot of space (and some jumps) to enjoy them. And a lot of batteries at around 20 min per pack. I have a Slash 4x4 converted to a sick ass buggy, Rustler 2x4, and a couple of CRT.5 4x4's with electric conversions. Use to break a lot of pieces until I learned how to keep trees from jumping out in front of me. Here's my /Slash 4x4 Last edited by erikstarcher; 08-06-2013 at 05:27 PM. |

| Re: Double Rock Park The best advice I would give is to get a Traxxas. They are not the best buy any means, but are cheep to fix, and parts can be bought locally. Unless you plan on racing, Traxxas should be just fine. 2 or 4 wd is up to you. 4x4 cost more, and are more complex, but handle better. 2x4 are cheaper, simpler, and lighter, but don't turn as well. If you want me to bring some next time we get together to test drive, just let me know.

Perfect answer. Would love to see what I might potentially be getting myself into. I'm hovering over a 4600kv setup on eBay as we speak.. and I've got enough steel rod to front/back-half the scx10 I might just go ultra4ish with the Crawler? Talk me out of it |

If you want to do any crawling with it get a sensored setup!!! (and they are tough to waterproof) Sensorless do not do good at low speeds. Also, steel rod will add weight up high and hurt your COG. Not a good thing at speed. Would be fine going straight, or slow, but will tip over in a heartbeat in a turn when at speed. High speed stuff needs the weight to be real low. My slash's COG is a lot lower than any of our trucks, but it's still to high for tight turns and will roll if turned more than half way when at speed (on grass anyway, loose dirt is a lot better). Most racers say that the Slash's COG is way too high for anything other than bashing. Also, in order to turn at speed, you need an unlocked front diff. I think that the best way to do an ultra4 would be with a set of wraith axles because it would help with stability alot. Never had an issue tiping over with my wraith when I had the wider axles on it. Another thing, the heavier the rig is, the lower the KV rating that you want. the 3800kv castle 4 pole I have in the slash is concidered the most for a short course type truck, and it only weighs 6 pounds. Most recommend lower KV motors for more torque on a heavy truck and something like a 4600kv to 5800kv for a 2wd truck. Even higher for an on road car. Not saying that an ultra4 rig can't be fun, just that they are much different beasts. Maybe just build a second rig. One crawler, one ultra4 style. Just some thoughts for you. 13.5 (3300kv)to 17.5 (2200kv) turn brushless for fast crawler/ultra 4, and 22.5 (1800) minimum for crawling.

Yea,still got lots of go fast stuff up in the attic, got rid of the planes and copters but still got some boats(a big bad a** boat). Maybe after these crawler builds are done I'll get the go fasts running again. Just traded the e-revo brushless, double backflips and high speed runs got boring after a awhile but every once in awhile the speed bug bites.

I got the tf2 and it looks good,a little fresh up and I'll try it out in a couple of weeks. It's on the shelf looking good for now,I would like to keep it on leafs for the scale. The Wraith got really wet and stopped working, tore it down and dried it out but have to put it back together. Right now redoing the SCX into a bomb proof, waterproof beauty so I can come out and have fun. Waiting on the mailman with the rest of the parts. It will take a few more weeks to get it ready for bobtruck pumpkin run and what ever you guys come up with at double rock. Work has been crazy and I don't see it letting up any time soon. I'm trying to get up and running but time has been short with a lot on my plate.

Nice place James. Had fun here. Humidity 100% Fun 100% Broken scx10 100% The Brute would have been a better choice for this area. But now I know. When are we going back? | |

I'm ready to go back again. Got home and was doing a look-over on the rig and the damn servo konked out on me! Guess I'll be taking that apart next to see if I can fix or cough up the cash for a new one. I got family coming up this weekend coming but maybe Thursday afternoon I could come out. |

It was programmed in a buggy. I don't have a pc atm. Last edited by MentillStitch; 08-12-2013 at 07:42 PM. |

I live 2 minutes from there, we should totally meet up some time and go crawling! I'm just waiting on a new system to come in the mail, but after that I'm fine any weekend unless I have school work or something
