Default T.o.w.o.t.w.

"tired of waiting on the wraith"!! So i am still waiting on the arrival of the new wraith and decided to start my own using the losi trekker as my parts donar and 1/8" styrene rod for the chassis.
Heres my start......
skidplate/trans mount.

I have brazed a few things in the past but never tackled a tube/rod chassis so this should be some good practice for future projects. I did'nt know were to start as far as scale size goes so I reduced a picture until it looked like the scale I was after.
At this size the stock tires match up pretty good so I figured I am on the right track.
Then I started measuring an bending.

Now she is starting to take shape.

In for more! This build is looking nice! Micro Wraith is a pretty sweet idea. Wonder if Axial is listening?

Awesome start, i was wondering when we would see a micro wraith
the RMSC axles would be killer with this build and i bet offer more speed
the sumo crawler axles are a little wider as well.

Ok so Micro Sumo crawler axles and these new tires would make it a true micro wraith! http://store.rc4wd.com/Mickey-Thomps...r-_p_1526.html

I have been using plastruct plastic weld but am beginning to wonder if this rig is crumble like a house of cards after it's first roll-over! Does anyone know of any other glues besides tanex or plastruct?

there are a few styrene tuber builds in the losi micro area as well but I think most use the same glues, I remember one claiming to use super glue and something else on top but I always though super glue was to brittle. its held up well for him however

I got a little sidetracked from the chassis this morning when I came across some mini t shocks by gpm hanging around and thaught I would see if I could make them work.

I started by cutting the shock body right below the cap stopper. Cleaned up the threads with one of the shock collars, and then to the lathe for a much needed diet!
I think they turned out pretty good. The shock cap ended up being a different thread than the collar was but I just cross threaded . There should not be to much of a load put on the shocks so it should be okay. I hope I can end up using them for this build. Center of eye to eye is 54mm and compressed is 40mm.

I made a little progress on the chassis. In the start I thaught I would get away without fishmouthing the rod but that turned out to be a bad idea. A couple of joints broke loose so started notching my joints.

I also tied in the rear, sorry no lead up photos.

I decided to go with a differant skidplate because I did'nt think the styrene would hold up for the 4 link mounts. I am going to go with brass instead so hopefully can get that wrapped up tomorrow morning. Also ordered the sumo to see how those axles might look for this build.
