A 1/20 Early Bronco fits a Barrage/RGT, CR-24 perfectly so I'd think the 1/24 will be short on the scx24 if the body is true to scale

Planning to use this 1:24 1973 Bronco body but not sure on the wheelbase yet.

1/20 scale models seem a bit trickier to find. Theres definitely more 1/24 scale out there but its hard to know what will work without seeing it firsthand.

I though about trying a 1/24 scale Suzuki Jimny hoping the wheelbase might be close but with these models they rarely give measurements. It said 6" long when assembled which might be close enough to work with but I think the limiting factor might end up being the size of the wheel wells.

This might be a good replacement for my son's proline ambush that I sold off.

1/24 is definitely easier to find. Generally speaking medium to long wheelbase full-size, and heavy duty trucks work ok in 1/24. Short wheelbase like a JK, FJ, Suzuki, Bronco ect 1/20 fits better

3 3/8 inch wheelbase for the Fujimi 1988(?) Jimny.

At one time I had discovered a data base of static model wheelbases and widths. Can’t for the life of me find it again. It was an older posting on some obscure model enthusiasts board so most of the models were 15+ years old. Nothing current. But many could still be found since most model companies keep running the same molds since they’ve paid for the license to do so.

The SCX24 looks so much more scale with smaller wheels & tires from the RGT/Barrage, CR-24!
The Barrage/CR-24 is perfect for short wheelbase 1/20 rigs and now the scx24 is perfect for medium wheelbase 1/20
The model bodies are 1/20 scale Lindberg which are no longer made, but AMT has bought the molds and rereleased the yellow Toyota pickup in grey. The FJ cruiser was a 1/20 toy grade RC from many years ago.

Interesting side note, you can easily make the scx24 axles as wide as RC4WD Mini Gelande 2.
we know the SCX24 is 3mm longer than the RC4WD 1/18 Mini Gelande, but the scx24 isn't as wide overall. However if you notice the wheels are positive offset rather than the typical negative or zero offset. The wheel hexes are also half the thickness of the Barrage/RGT, CR-24, yet the scx24 worm gear axles are noticably wider.
So when you use the smaller Barrage/RGT, CR-24 wheels and tires (or any even Losi or RC4WD) with the thicker wheel hex, you get RC4WD width worm axles!

You could also do this with Mil Stone brass hex widener weights. You'll want to use the set for the Losi Micro crawler/Proline Ambush/Mini Gelande/Carisma MSA-1E

Those pictures are great at showing all the possibilities with such a new rig! Thanks for taking the time to do this; it will be an awesome reference!

When you have a chance could you post a video of it crawling? Axial put its name on it so I would think it should be slow and smooth.

I have a video on FB I'll link. I myself and others will still probably like to get it a little bit slower although I wouldn't want to sacrifice the bump speed. However it's at least as mood if not better than at recker and definitely is more stable than a Trekker.

There are several new videos on YouTube now. I'm really impressed by what I see. Can't wait to try it myself.

I like the suspension geometry. It should be a nice crawler with those big tires.

I've been scouring the interwebs for more 1/20 scale bodies and I did find a Willys army jeep (Assembled Size: (L)170 x (W)90 mm)
https://www.plazajapan.com/4536318820017/ which is sold out but they have this if you're not too embarrassed https://www.plazajapan.com/4536318411031
EDIT: Amazon has just the Jeep to spare you the embarrassment https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A3964SL7ILGOG9

Honda Life Step Van 1/20 scale (though the tires and the body are so small in the 1:1 that I think this one would be a ton of trouble)
https://www.plazajapan.com/4905083055717

1993 GCM Sonoma 1/20 scale https://www.megahobby.com/products/1...mt-models.html

1993 Nissan Hardbody 1/20 Scale (out of stock here but I did see them available elsewhere) https://www.megahobby.com/products/1...mt-models.html

The shocks are bad ass. By far the best out of all the micro shocks Ive tried. I plan to get more for my other micros. 14 bucks for al 4 aint bad!

The tires are tall and grippy! It went right up things my others spin the tires on.

So far this is thing is fun and so worth the money.

The 7mm hex on these seems big. I noticed you had the stock hex and some other in one of your pictures. Im curious if you had to use something else to mount those on your deadbolt?

BEcause my RC4WD beadlocks want nothing to do with the axial hex. My HBX monster wheels fit the hex. But man is it tight! Almost too tight to try again.

The Willy's is a very short wheelbase and narrow even for 1/20 since the 1:1 is so small. It's more suited for a regular Losi Micro crawler not a Trekker and especially not the scx24.
The 2 AMT models were formerly made by Lindberg and the width is great. The wheel base works well for the GMC, but the Nissan is extended cab so you'd need to lengthen the links.
I own all of those and checked them last night.

The axial hex is indeed a tight fit, some fit better than others.
