Thanks 2MP !

Todays progress;
I got 2 of the chassis plates sandblasted and painted this AM, will post later tonight or Thursday when re-installed.

I spent most of the afternoon deciding which damn motor to use. I hooked up a 1270kv 6pole MegaMotor which was perfect but due to being unsensored the micro throttle inputs were twitchy, I kinda expected this but decided to try anyway= Fail

I then tried a 1500kv Outrunner motor, tons of low end power and def smoother than the MegaMotor but a bit to fast and still not smooth enough on the bottom end= Fail

I tried the Tekin SCX4 550 3300kv sensored motor once again and ultimately decided just way to fast. I can adjust all the ESC perameters to smooth out the power delivery and tame the top end via Throttle EPA but to much power is lost in the process= Fail

Looks like I'm staying with the 25.5T 1900kv Trinity sensored 540 motor with a 8T pinion ?

If this motor gets warm lugging around all the weight I may consider a 65T brushed on 3s instead but only because I can't get a larger diameter motor mounted up due to space constraints. The only way around this is to use a different transmission but hopeing I don't have to go that route but will if nessasary.

Sweet build job bud but as for the weight and the motor to pull it im running a holms 20t crawlmaster pro in my Scud build and that rig is pushing 17-20 pounds and it runs nice and slow or with a bit of balls.

Thanks
I've ben looking at the Holmes motors but have ultimately decided to get it up and running to do some tests befor I worry anymore about the motor. Hope to test real soon, anxious to see this pig run under it's own power.

Did more relaxing than anything else today but I managed a bit more.

Rear bumper braces and loops for the rear pull rings/shackles.

This what I'm using to do the brazing/soldering

I've build hundreds of custom RC's over the years with a lot of one off parts but going to this extreme has ben the most fun ever, Wished I ventured into this kinda of stuff years ago ?
Thank you for inspiring me to go ahead and try the brazing thing. Your build is coming out extremely smoothly! Definately sub on this one!

Thank You for the kind words gentlemen
I'm kinda thinking the truck is going to be a towing/recovery truck, seems to be going that direction anyway because it's just getting bigger and heavier as work progresses. I'm very anxious to hopefully do some testing by next weekend depending how far I progress on my next day off Weds ?

@ 17Dean; Good luck with your brazing endevor, any questions I'll help any way I can. Just gimme a shout via PM.

@ LosiAE; your Big Rig builds are sick ! I spray all my bodies with Urethane BC/CC as well. Flexible, durable and have tons of left overs from jobs.
Free paint and materials def make it happen.
I however am struggling with a color/pattern for this things body ??

Progress has ben slow this week but I did manage to do a bit today.

I had to extend the drive shaft between the #1-#2 axle, I used a 1-1/4" piece of 3/8" solid Stainless Steel rod.

The springs on these shocks are really feking stiff, In this flex shot the spring will not fully compress. Maybe once the installed body, bed, battery and the rest of the electronics they'll be fine ?

I wouldn't worry about it until you have the truck built. That way you can tune the suspension to the weight you will be running the truck with, not what it weighs now.

Looks good! What a beast!!

Did you pick a color pattern yet? Can't go wrong with a military camo theme. Would look great with those black industrial wheels and triple axles.

IDK, I really like the Camo but it seems nearly everyone does it ?

I have some green base coat left over from painting my 1:1 Jeep(bright Green Met w/gold Pearl), I was thinking the green with Clear and then flat black zebra pattern on top ?

I'm totally open to suggestions ??

I had to work all day today but I managed some progress this evening, with a little work and soldering I should be testing Sunday afternoon ?? Fat fingers crossed !

The scale winch I bought is really cool but under powered for such a huge machine so I got brave with a brand new Hitec HS7950TH servo and used the scale winch controller to make a bad assed winch with. The servo has 402oz @ 6v so I'm confident it can hack the pig I'm building ?

Now to hit the craft store and score a "bobbin" for a winch reel.

Where did you find the round aluminum servo horn?

I sat down to the bench with a fresh case of Michelobe Ultra in the fridge and got to work today, I made a spool for my winch thats pretty close to scale for this truck. I'm also going to make a utility box for the servo to reside in to keep it hiddem that will mount on the bed in the same location much as a Slideback tow truck but I'm going to build a boom yet.

Now that this is done for now I'm going to install the electronics to see if I can make this beast come alive today for some tests ?? I still have plenty of time and beer left for the afternoon.

You Tube video, and yes it has variable speed

I have it thrown together so I can center and align everything, Once the body is installed everything on the chassis will be stuffed inside.

I just drove it just a little in the house to get and idea of the wheel speed it has and so far the motor has the perfect speeds in Low & High gear, I just hope it can hack the weight. The fat pig tips the scales at 10.7lbs as is, A good run will gimme an idea whats up.
