Primer flat blue, like a couple of those European 1:1 rigs I saw in the youtube vids. Like its been sitting outside for 50 years.

There was a story on the local news about St. Pete being sold out of beer this afternoon. Now we know why.

I like that idea, a really dirty washed out blue.

Beleive me I've seen hundreds of videos of the European trials and a lot of them are painted bright colors so I'm perplexed what to do. I started fitting the body and have a little ways to go yet but have to build the bumper and roll cage befor I paint so I have some time.

BTW, IDK if the video of the winch worked for you and others but it didn't for me when I tried it so I downloaded the video on YT and replaced the link.

Change of plans possibly ?
Thinking of yanking the 2sp tranny out and installing a R2 trans with a Tekin 1400kv 1/8scale buggy motor and run it sensored on 2s. That motor is 4 pole and will have lots of grunt.

Then I'll throw the 2spd in my 1.9 Scaler build ??

How is the strength on the spool itself? You help keep my brain on constant think mode with all that brass work!

The center of the spool that the line will be wrapping around is doubled up tubing 3/16" inside a 1/4" piece then using (4) 2mm screws fastened to the alum servo horn. I "hope" it'll be plenty strong but I will test prior to install once I figure out what I'm using for winch line ? May just test with some Power-Pro....

I figure if the spool want's to bend or tweak under heavy load I can always build something to support the end of the spool much like a reg winch is, trying for simplicity for now.

I have an idea for a support for the other end of the winch spool, should be able to incorporate a bearing as well. I also will make a housing to completely cover the servo/spool assembly to make it have a level of realism.

First Test Today !

Took a while to get the steering perfectly centered x3, can still use some fine tuning but was anxious to run. I ran nearly a whole 5000mah 2s pack just hacking around and I'v def decided to step up the power and voltage. I ordered the Tekin 4 pole 1400kv 1/8 scale buggy motor and will prob run it on 3s for the power and efficentcy. If a tire or two gets kinda wedged theres no way 2s is gonna get this pig out of trouble especially if trying to help other's out of a jam.

Steering worked typical for the lenth of the thing but that 3rd axle really brought the thing to life, has fantastically small truning radius.

Very breif video, sorry for shaky and spotty focus. Was trying to hold the DX7 TX and the camera while driving.

I like to use 100 LB. test spider wire fishing line for my winch line, works good for my 20+ lb. Rigs

Very cool rig! Looks to be running great! I'll be curious to see it on 3s with the 1400kv. Shouldn't have any problems mounting that motor right?

Can't wait to see it with the body on

I managed to disassemble the Mann body today, wasn't that hard since the joker that put it together did a piss poor job. The Hot knife greatly simplified the job, best 10.00 I spent in a a loooong time.

I've already removed a lot of material from the floor pan so it pretty much can be resting on the chassis plate to get the COG low as possible.

At least someone is paying attention, thanks guys !

I've ben tinkering with the floor pan and pretty much rebuilt the entire thing. I added a 7"x3.5"x3/16" sheet of Kydex and extended the fenders wells where needed, it's solid as a rock now.
Working with the plastic is entirely new to me and I must say I enjoy it very much, On a whim I made the needed door hinges and found the plastic is really nice to work with even making small pieces.

It's pretty late right now and I'm beat, I'l post a few progress pictures Sat when I get home from work after I slam a few beers.

I'm reassembling the cab so it sit's roughly 15mm lower onto the cab floor to help lower COG.
The cab floor will be mounted directly to the chassis plate and will include some rubber isolators as well.

Last week was uber busy for me, I was in charge of the hobby shop while the boss and son went to the Keys for 10days, lucky bastards.
Anyway, for holding down the fort etc the boss gave me some lipos and paid for the Tekin motor I asked him to order me this morning. Paying for the motor was def a awesome gesture but IDK about these lipos. They've ben hanging on the peg for at least 4yrs that I can recall. Apogee made a AWESOME pack back in the day but since sitting for so long it's questionable they're any good. I'll check the indiviual cell voltage and go from there ?
