Had to give the brazing thing a try. I like the original way @ times too , that is why I am so glad I did it where I can take the cage off when I want to . Thanks for your comment !

If you just clean up the brazing a bit and hit it with some paint, it should look pretty good Dean...

Almost a week since your last post, Any progress Homey ?

I took several days off mine to re-think a few things but I'm full steam ahead now !

Get work Son !

EDIT;
I'm a retired Bodyman/Painter of 27yrs so knowing how important paint prep is a no brainer, So... with that being said I'll explain;

The rear plate/bumper I made for my 6x6, I sandblasted it then sprayed it down with laquer thinnner to degrease it. Then sprayed it with a Zinc chromate metal etching primer, then sprayed 2 med wet coats of the black hammer paint. Well, it looked great but as ashamed as I am to admit it, the paint flakes right off ! Needless to say I'm kinda pissed.
Make sure your surface prep exceeds what I did or you might suffer the same fate as mine ?? Good Luck !

Bondonutz..I had to take a vacation from my 6x6 to get my vision back clear . Then I tried to work on my TF2 and almost threw everything out ! So after one more extra day of cool relaxing thoughts and peeping other people progress and a serious reality check , I will be back to working on the 6x6 to get her running again. Yeah one of my drive shafts broke and I am going to sand the cage down and spray it. I feel outside that whats on the agenda this week. Heck I don't have to tell you cause you know how it goes all ready! One more thing I forgot......I need to fab a servo holder like you asap as well. The arms broke on mine too! Damn , Damn , Damn!

Whats the deal? Been off getting my direction back , a lot of twist and turns and thoughts since my last post up. Drive train and other break problems here and there and just finally got Big Baby up and running scooting and better. Had to take the tranny completely aloose to fix my mid shaft.

So after getting the drive shaft straight , I plugged up to test drive and find out the spring at the bottom of the HH motors came off!! WTF

UGH!!!!!
But with a few calls and help from my RC bro,s , Big Baby motor problems was solved..

Then I cleaned all my brass work off and sprayed my first light coat of primer on the back and the cage itself.

The back side

And here is the exo cage with its first layer of primer

Will be doing 1 more coat of primer after a lil sanding and then laying paint next! Any comments and suggestions are appreciated!

Is the bed gonna roll back by radio? At hobby store there is a paint called metalizer? Once coated with that brass will take paint well, also used bondo too some out some rough stuff on my nascar(not that you need that you pretty smooth). Looking awesome! Gonna get you work bench for x-mas Was writing this while you posted, looks like you got it already...

This is a excellent build. I was surprised when I clicked the link you provided and seen a 6x6...AWESOME

I singed up just to post on this thread

The exo-cage is a great addition and gives the feel of a Dakar style rig.

Got video?

@ Dean; Glad to see I'm not the only one slacking on getting some video

@ MrRR96; Your GoGo Towing ?
I just commented on one of your videos the other day, you build nice trucks and the video editing is exceptional !
I also just built a 6x6 with a genuine tow rig/Repo grabber, your vids have given me a bit of inspiration.
THX !

@ BONDONUTZ.... Mr.Range is a extreme big part of what me want to have my own 6x6! And you are definitely right , them editing and theme skills of dude is the illest! On the side note....
Painted my cage , and letting the sun do what it do. Being down south does have it advantages at times! Pics coming today ......I think I did a classic noob mistake and used my left over Lexan paint. Did 2 or 3 coats and looks ok , but not my best work. But hey this is my first time at brazing and building so like them skills I will learn the paint thing too!
