Grabbed this from Tommy R. Lots of cool stuff going on here, but I do have some plans.... because I don't already have 6 rigs in pieces lying around. I'm considering a darker bed, flat bed or no bed at all. Will get some nice electronics, servo winch and some custom wheels. What I do with the suspension will depend on how it drives, which bed option I go with and whatnot. I think it will end up being a fun toy but do not expect to see this competing at scale nationals! Current shot: Yeah, I'm using a blanket for a background because otherwise the black or white gets washed out. Unfortunately, during my move I broke off a fender. Easy enough to fix, but the plastic weld stuff I bought was not cooperating, so it took multiple attempts. Last edited by Locked Up; 10-26-2016 at 03:48 PM. |

The next repair, was to change out all of the axle gears. Tommy had swapped out the rear center diff parts before I got it. So I went ahead and swapped out the rear most axle. And the front coming apart... Now that I have gotten inside the axles... I feel the need to upgrade a few things. More on that as things develop... but on to electronics for now! Here is what I'm thinking for the wheels and tires. Naw, I'm just messing with ya. Really I just wanted a shot of the front so I can see if I like where the tire is in the wheel well. I think it's OK for now. May extend the links a hair. Possible electronics grouping: Hoping to do that mini servo for the transmission. We will see if it is smooth enough. Putting in the steering servo and was not sure how to orient it. No instructions on hand... Seems like if I mount it one way it will hit the panhard. If I mount it the other way it will either swing opposite of the knuckles or be way crazy far out front? |

So I went and looked back through some of Tommy's stuff and noticed his servo was mounted on top of the servo brackets with the splines towards the back. So to get mine to fit that way.... And that is in. |

One of the challenges I face with any used truck I get is trying to not completely rebuild the whole thing as I see little problems. A normal person would just put electronics in this and run it. Not me. I have to go and notice the CMS geometry is off and start jacking with everything. Sometimes I exhaust myself. Making no changes the first thing I noticed is that the links are not parallel. That drives me crazy. Then I notice the drag link seems a bit to short to get the servo horn centered and both links have more than an ideal amount of angle in relation to the axle. The misalignment of the links could be due to the way I mounted the servo ... but if mounted it under the brackets I think the servo arm would hit the panhard? So, the fix is to drop the panhard down on the axle end. Much better! Last edited by Locked Up; 11-05-2016 at 08:18 AM. |

Now, to address some of the angle in relation to the axle ... Eric dug up the online manual and noticed the panhard should be mounted to the front of the drop mount. So we made a change. And that makes them more parallel but checking clearances and there is contact. So then I decided to see what would happen if I moved the panhard mount back a hair. This will require a new hole but if it works I'm OK with that. And checking the clearances at full lock steering... The top down alignment is still decent and will full lock to lock on the steering I'll take it.. Last edited by Locked Up; 10-26-2016 at 09:05 PM. |

And a final check on the axle/frame alignment close to ride height. Looking at the frame rails and comparing to the mounts on the axle and I think we are in business. Now, what to do about those springs that keep bunching up? Last edited by Locked Up; 11-05-2016 at 08:29 AM. |

What are the other wheels you were teasing us with?? They look sweet, makes me want to try another set on mine. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk |

I'm more likely going to use them on this and do something new for the other 6x6. The ones I do have were prototypes, and the production cost on them was not what I wanted. So going to tweak them to get them to a reasonable cost for everyone. | |

Looks like an awesome truck! I picked up the kit last weekend while on vacation! Cannot wait to start putting it together!

Got the shock springs swapped around. The collar was getting caught on the bottom of the body. With them flipped, no more bunching! And a shot with no bed: I might actually like the "bobtail" look. Anyway, a few repairs to be made to the bed from moving. And while taking it off it broke off all the way. I also noticed these tall silver spacers sort of stand out. Will have to touch them up. Wanting to clean up the look of the truck and I'm going back and forth with doing no bed, painting ti another colors ... or something else. So I decided a safe place to start is to paint the rails on the bed black, and then add a bunch of stickers for that Trials truck look Tommy was going to do. I started by removing the bed, then the rails from the bed. Did I already mention how much I am thinking about going with no bed? Once I got the rails off, it was time for paint. |

Rails back on bed, then with body mounts It's hard for me to get a good photo with all the shadowing, etc but I took a few so hopefully you will see the improvement I see in person. And next, we bust out the decal stash... |

I'm liking the direction this is going, keep up the great work. Are you planning on installing a front winch? I'd like to install a servo winch but can't decide to where to mount it. |
