I have the CS170 and like it. I've had it for 6 months or so and never had a problem. My guess is that they aren't as reliable as futaba or JR so make sure you set your endpoints correctly

Man, it's cool that you got ya an order placed. You can do all the research in the world, but in the end you've gotta break down and start somewhere.

Once you get this one going together you'll get a better idea of what all we've been talking about. Then once you drive it, you will want to build another one. At that point you will know exactly what you want out of a rig.

Yeah thanks, whoever pointed me to that deal. I just wish I knew what the hell was missing as far as the tranny parts.

So I'm going to go with 2 cobalt 7t pullers 2 sidewinders ESC a CCBEC

John recommended this. You guys see any rpoblem with this? Any idea what size pinion? I have no idea what size spur that tranny has either of the 2 the truck comes with.

What I wonder too is what type of lipo pack I should get, I want to get a saddle pack to put on the front or rear axle. Any suggestions?

I want 7.4V and the higher the Mah the longer the run time? Is that how it works?

Yes the 7t puller will work with either of those transmissions. If you end up getting the AX10 transmission together, you'll want about a 14t, 48p pinion. For that R2 transmission, run about a 11t, 32p.

For batteries if you're gonna get them from Holmes, go with one of these two....

You have to have a different front servo mount like the one I posted early on from Amain, to move your servo off to one side, instead of having a saddle pack. You want to pay attention to the discharge rate for that Cobalt motor, and try to stay around that 25C rating or higher. I think that 1300mah will give you about 30-45 minutes of run time, maybe higher. Personally I'd rather change packs out every hour or so than to have too heavy of a pack.

Ok so I shouldn't get a max amps saddle pack lipo? I think I was looking at like a 4000mah? I don't really know what Mah is (longer run time?)

I was contemplating saddle pack as I can put one on each side of the axle, but that one you liked me to looks tiny, 2" I didn't realize they were that small, they're out of stock anyhow.

Not sure what you mean about discharge rate and such
does this help?
Recommended lipo battery- 40 amps continuous for 11.1v, 30 amps continuous for 7.4v. Slightly longer than a standard 540 motor. Uses standard 1/8" pinions, and 25mm motor mount spacing- bolts up like a normal 540 motor. **Some stock uses 4-40 mounting screws that are not included**

When you say 32p 48p you mean spur? Should I get a steel one?

I'm not sure on those saddle packs from maxamps, but most likely they would work ok if that's what you wanted. MAH is the run time, but you have to keep in mind that more MAH means bigger packs size wise.

As far as the 32p and 48p, im talking about when you buy a pinion to go on your motor. The setup you just bought may come with some, so I would wait and see what you get first. The stock spur gear on that AX10 is 48p, so your pinion also has to be 48p with that tranny. The R2 will need a 32p pinion. The other numbers are the tooth count on the pinion. Those two transmissions are geared a little differently, so for the AX10 a 14t stock pinion is a good number with a Cobalt. For the R2 I think alot of folks are running around a 10t or 11t.

Personally I would start out with the R2, because it's an aluminum case metal gear tranny. You will have to drill new mounting holes in the skid, but in the end you're getting a little better transmission.

Holy hell.....you are gonna love that motor! Here's mine in my comp Ax10:

You should know that motor is longer than most 540 motors. IIRC, it measures about 2.5" in length, so you just need to make sure that it fits in your chassis.

BTW, it uses 1/8" pinions....

I'm wondering if that will fit on the back axle?
I'll put weights on the front, I want them in back as I'm a fruitcake and dont' want batteries up front. I'll get some rims eventually that accept weights.

Knuckleslammer, I've got that exact battery at home (I run it on my 2.2 clod) and can toss it on the AX10 and snap a picture this evening if that would help you decide. Just let me know.....

Well you don't have to toss it in. Just see if it would fit would be cool. I mean guys put 3/4 regular size cells on axles, so I'm sure it would fit ha?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I'll snap a pic that will help give you an idea of the size and mounting position for that battery...

Getting 2 mamba max's and 2 7t pullers because in my past experience all electronics stuff sucks and all it does is break. I sent back 3 novak brushless systems in the past. I buy 2 of everything, minimum.

That's a good idea I wanted to do that but I done have the spare cash to do that so I just rebuy something when it breaks.
