I have the CS170 and like it. I've had it for 6 months or so and never had a problem. My guess is that they aren't as reliable as futaba or JR so make sure you set your endpoints correctly

Man, it's cool that you got ya an order placed. You can do all the research in the world, but in the end you've gotta break down and start somewhere. Once you get this one going together you'll get a better idea of what all we've been talking about. Then once you drive it, you will want to build another one. At that point you will know exactly what you want out of a rig. |

Yeah thanks, whoever pointed me to that deal. I just wish I knew what the hell was missing as far as the tranny parts. So I'm going to go with 2 cobalt 7t pullers 2 sidewinders ESC a CCBEC John recommended this. You guys see any rpoblem with this? Any idea what size pinion? I have no idea what size spur that tranny has either of the 2 the truck comes with. What I wonder too is what type of lipo pack I should get, I want to get a saddle pack to put on the front or rear axle. Any suggestions? I want 7.4V and the higher the Mah the longer the run time? Is that how it works? |

Yes the 7t puller will work with either of those transmissions. If you end up getting the AX10 transmission together, you'll want about a 14t, 48p pinion. For that R2 transmission, run about a 11t, 32p. For batteries if you're gonna get them from Holmes, go with one of these two.... http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=10&page=1 http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=10&page=1 You have to have a different front servo mount like the one I posted early on from Amain, to move your servo off to one side, instead of having a saddle pack. You want to pay attention to the discharge rate for that Cobalt motor, and try to stay around that 25C rating or higher. I think that 1300mah will give you about 30-45 minutes of run time, maybe higher. Personally I'd rather change packs out every hour or so than to have too heavy of a pack. |

Ok so I shouldn't get a max amps saddle pack lipo? I think I was looking at like a 4000mah? I don't really know what Mah is (longer run time?) I was contemplating saddle pack as I can put one on each side of the axle, but that one you liked me to looks tiny, 2" I didn't realize they were that small, they're out of stock anyhow. Not sure what you mean about discharge rate and such does this help? Recommended lipo battery- 40 amps continuous for 11.1v, 30 amps continuous for 7.4v. Slightly longer than a standard 540 motor. Uses standard 1/8" pinions, and 25mm motor mount spacing- bolts up like a normal 540 motor. **Some stock uses 4-40 mounting screws that are not included** When you say 32p 48p you mean spur? Should I get a steel one?

As far as the 32p and 48p, im talking about when you buy a pinion to go on your motor. The setup you just bought may come with some, so I would wait and see what you get first. The stock spur gear on that AX10 is 48p, so your pinion also has to be 48p with that tranny. The R2 will need a 32p pinion. The other numbers are the tooth count on the pinion. Those two transmissions are geared a little differently, so for the AX10 a 14t stock pinion is a good number with a Cobalt. For the R2 I think alot of folks are running around a 10t or 11t. Personally I would start out with the R2, because it's an aluminum case metal gear tranny. You will have to drill new mounting holes in the skid, but in the end you're getting a little better transmission. Last edited by MCSCOTT; 04-08-2009 at 09:40 AM.

You should know that motor is longer than most 540 motors. IIRC, it measures about 2.5" in length, so you just need to make sure that it fits in your chassis. BTW, it uses 1/8" pinions....

Here's what Jason is recommending. Lipo 2200mah 3S2P 11.1V Saddle Battery Pack 2200mah Capacity 11.1 Volts 34mm X 66mm X 19mm on each side 25C Constant(55 amps) 50C Burst - 1220 surge watts(110 amps) 190 grams Water-sealed for all-weather protection Comes standard with Hyperion taps Comes standard with 16awg Deans Ultra wire Highest performance in the industry Twice the capacity of NiMH for the same weight Plug and Play for any charger/balancer/vehicle We add the connectors and balancing taps for you Money Back Guarantee Normally ships within 24-48 hours Exceeds safety standards of the IATABuilt today with factory fresh cells Can be recharged unlimited times per day \ I'm wondering if that will fit on the back axle? I'll put weights on the front, I want them in back as I'm a fruitcake and dont' want batteries up front. I'll get some rims eventually that accept weights. |

Knuckleslammer, I've got that exact battery at home (I run it on my 2.2 clod) and can toss it on the AX10 and snap a picture this evening if that would help you decide. Just let me know.....

Im sure people are going to say these arent any good but, allot of guys in my club run the EC power batteries and I just started running them in my Bully truck (2 55t lathes and a JR 8711 servo) http://www.ecpower.com.hk/index.php?...8541d942aa67ee $22 shipped for 2 packs. |

Well you don't have to toss it in. Just see if it would fit would be cool. I mean guys put 3/4 regular size cells on axles, so I'm sure it would fit ha?

| Yeah, that's what I meant. I'll snap a pic that will help give you an idea of the size and mounting position for that battery...

Getting 2 mamba max's and 2 7t pullers because in my past experience all electronics stuff sucks and all it does is break. I sent back 3 novak brushless systems in the past. I buy 2 of everything, minimum.
