Thanks for the pics Jeremy. So I got my 4wdrc tranny with my rig and it turns out to be a DIG sytem without the DIG aparatus, LOFL.

Question about shocks. This is odd and I know it's something to do with crawlers. the shocks it came with, work in the opposite directon. Meaning instead of pushing the shaft out, the shaft goes in as if there is a spring inside, whcih I'm sure there is, haven't had time to look.

Now, one set is uber f'n stiff, can hardly pull it. the other is not so stiff. Which one goes on the front and whcih on the back?

Also, what do you suggest for new shocks and springs. I hear people mention losi but any idea what length and internal springs? I'm easy to please, and I got no time to look. I'm dismantling the roller as we speak and rebuilding it. The previous owner had less than stellar building skillz.

What length shocks are you looking for? On my comp axial (pictured above), I run Traxxas GTR shocks (for the Revo) with Jato springs. I replaced the Losi Crawler shocks with these (I was sick of the Losi shocks leaking). These new shocks will work well with lower chassis (like the DNA CFX pictured above). BTW, those losi shocks use external springs. I'm sure that there are folks that have run them with internal springs, but most use the stock externals.

As for the tranny. RC4WD made a few versions of that...the first was a non-dig tranny. Then they came out with the R2D....R2 tranny with dig. Now they have the R2D2....with dual dig.

BTW, post up a pic of the new toy!

I don't know what length I'm looking for? I like this look

but I'm wondering what purpose it has being so low? Wouldn't you want a crawler higher? Then again problably not as you want the COG low right?

I don't know what length I want, I just want to replace the stock plastic ones with metal is all.

Well, those are Traxxas T/E-Maxx shocks that have had the external springs removed. It appears to be an unsprung "droop" setup....meaning that it always sits at the lowest possible stance and when it encounters an obstacle, the tire will droop into position and maintain traction. These setups have a low center of gravity and will sidehill well, but they take some getting used to...

Personally, I like a sprung setup...

Is it possible to get that droop type setup but with exterior springs? Right now I have the back ones (stiff) and the front ones (limp )

So when I pick the car up the front wheels drop but the rear doesn't budge, is that correct?

I'll post some pics in a few

You can't really get the droop setup with external springs. The springs need to push up on the shock piston. Those shocks in the pic you posted look to me like just the stock AX10 shocks with the Axial aluminum shock bodes. On my Edge rigs I personally run the Hot Racing 120mm shocks, because they accept the same internal springs as the stock ones. They're not the best shocks out there, but it shortens the lenght over the stock ones, which is good, and it gives you an all aluminum shock. I run mine in a 60/40 setup, which means I have springs under, as well as on top of the piston. On the shocks you mention that wont budge, I would say change out the springs. Mine are all mediums, but I suff enough springs in the shocks that they handle well and torque twist is minimal.

Battery tray looks crooked but it isn't. Camera angle

Gotta lose that green, I hate it.

Will be replacing the crappy plastic panels with real carbon fiber when it comes in. Hopefully the stuff is bendable for the nose, and hopefully I can cut it somehow, it's 1.7mm thick

Rear shocks are so stiff when I pick it up the rear doesn't even drop. So I guess I got no droop eh?

I got more stuff coming too. Imagine that?

I got a lot of room on the rear tray. I'm wondering if a solid 11v 2200ma lipo pack would fit ok back there? Meaning a full pack rather than saddle pack. I don't like the way batteries look up front. I'll add some weight in the front in some inconspicous manner. After Try and figure out what to buy for shocks. These are plastic junk jobs. And whoever owned it put the siffest spings imaginable in the back.

Kind of sucks buying a used rig as it's scratched up a bit, but that's how it's going to end up anyway. I like to build my rigs clean and tight. It will be interesting what I can do with the ESC and battery when they come.

This is 3/4 of the fun for me gentlemen. I originally did not want to wrench and my wife gave me a little sh*t as she hasn't seen me in 2 days. My eyes are ready to fall out. All I did was dismantle this thing, put new axles on, aluminum C's and Knuckles, drill out and recess the holes in the battery tray and put it back together and somehow 2 days went by.

That ever happen to you?

Thanks for the help fellas. The fun stuff comes next, motor and ESC / Transmitter programming. The worst part for me as I can only read directions for 5 seconds at a time. LOFL.

Looks like things are working out well for you. I'm brand new to RC's, currently working on a build sheet right now.....let us know if you go with the Traxxas GTR shocks. I'd like to know if they are recommended over the Losi's.

Keep it up, almost done
