First off which way are you going with it, Edge or Eclipse?

Also you've got MIP driveshafts listed as well as Punishers, that's quite a bit of money there. You wont need things like the driveshaft rings when you're going with the metal driveshafts.

Don't get the delrin boomerang, you'll want aluminum on that.

TCS has the DX3r
http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Spektrum-...o-p-16833.html

Personally starting out I would cut out those high dollar aluminum axle housings, because you really don't need them, and they hurt you in the rocks more than help.

Small stuff you can get rid of as well are the 106mm links and the chassis spacers if you're going to order the kit. Also on your internal springs don't get the hard strength. You will want either mediums or softs, the hard ones don't really have any give to them at all on these things.

Also get rid of the Hot Racing servo saver, you don't want that on a crawler. Instead look into getting this servo over the 5955.....

http://www.tcscrawlers.com/10-OFF-Hi...e-p-16189.html

It's the newer version of the 5955 and the ones that I have bought come with an aluminum servo horn.

Then I would switch out the radio you have selected for a cheaper one. Go with a cheaper charger like the duratrax onyx 230 ($80). Go with a cheaper servo like the JR Ds8711 ($135). Go with cheaper batteries. The Poly RC PQ-1500XP-2S lipo battery ($25) is an awesome battery and it uses the same cells as thunderpower batteries. http://www.rclipos.com/RCL.html

Personally based on what you have listed and the fact that you want rear steer here is what I would go with starting out. There's some of this stuff that I would cut out even, and there's some of the things that I don't list that you may want like the steel gears and aluminum transmission case, but for the most part especially starting out you don't really need those.

Then get the Sidewinder, BEC, charger, and batteries from Holmes, and have him set the BEC at 6.0v. Also I think he has the option of setting the Sidewinder up for you, or just get a Castle Link and set the BEC and ESC up yourself. The only other item I left off the list is the front servo mount, because with Lipo batteries you will want something like this to keep the 4link up front like the rear.....

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/31705

Some other things you'll want to look into will be tires like Panther Cougars or Losi Claws, because the stock tires aren't anywhere near as good as those two. You will also want weights in the tires, but the ones at TCS get expensive quick, when you can just pick some up at a tire store. Then you may also want to upgrade wheels, but either way all of this that I've listed will give you a great start, and should be in or close to your budget.

You can get that DX3R for $260-$280 if you shop around.

and remember, you don't have to buy everything at once, you can always upgrade things later as needed.

Yeah I got rid of the aluminum cases. So I can use the alum c hubs and knuckles with the stock axles right?

What about the innerds of the axles. Anything needing beefing up in there?

The HD lockers for the inside of the axles is a good buy, but I never completely stripped the stock ones. My stock gears have held up as well. That slipper is gonna save it all some, that's why I wouldn't worry about any tranny or axle gear upgrades until later on.

why are you getting 2 sets of knuckles and c's??? Get one set and a rear straight axle. Save yourself some money on the rear straight axle and go with plastic, aluminum for that part really isnt needed.

My stock lockers and gears are 18m or so old and though they are showing a little wear its minimal (especially since I didnt lube them when first installed)

Also dont understand 2 robot servo's? Are you building a 2.2 or a super? Save the money from the servo rear steer and extra knuckles and get Dig... you will be glad you did even if its for non comp use.

Slipper has to be the #1 thing to remove from a crawler... never understood why they came up with that.

Dont forget BTA

Edit: Now that I look at your list again... why buy the kit when you are replacing 3/4 of the parts? Just get axles, trans and some shocks.

2 servos and 2 sets of knuckles and C's = 4 wheel steering.

So I can run the transmission without a slipper. Keep in mind, I'm a noob and 3/4 of what you said I have no idea about.

It looks like you are getting new aluminum 3 link brackets and 4 link plates...i would eliminate the 3 link brackets...not necessary...Plus those drive shafts are not necessary....you can pick up some Stampede shafts for like $7. I have run those so hard and never broke, bent or damaged them at all. And the Aluminum gear case only adds extra weight up high. doesn't help with strength at all. Your gears will still break just the same..And those axial upper link plates can be made from a cheap $5 sheet of lexan with some scissors. Save tons of money..

Otherwise everything else looks pretty good....check out RCP spools/lockers...I loved the added weight it gave!!

Dig = disconnects rear drive shaft and locks rear axle so that you can turn sharp, decend steeper, climb steeper
here is a vid to show how it can help with more than steering:
http://www.hobbyzip.com/videos/787/c...1-%281%29.html
Notice how I lock and unlock the rear wheels and remove power at times from the rear (freewheel)

BTA = Behind the axle steering keeps you from hanging up on the linkages when approaching an obsticle.

4ws = not comp legal teaches bad habits for if you ever want to comp (also the setup from axial is a waste of money)

slipper = removes the power when you need it, sucks to be trying to make a climb or being slightly bound and the slipper kicks in to "protect" your parts. I never have ran one and have yet to destroy an axial part and I drive hard

Are you gonna use this truck for comps?

If you are, I'd ditch the rear steering. It's not comp legal, you won't need to spend that extra $100 on the servo, etc.

If you're not, start with everything you need to build up the kit and get it running, then add all the upgrade's later.
