That would be 14v. I don't know if the Nylint electrics could handle 14v's.

I'm sure the battery will be fine, it might not provide the juice it does when its warmer, but it won't damage anything. Now, the crawler, made of plastic, the plastic might get a little brittle. What I would worry about is condensation. If you bring it somewhere warm, give it some time to warm up, or the condensatio might build up on some thing like the PCBs and corrode it. But what do I know, it never gets that cold in Hawaii.

I thought since there's been quite a few people asking since RUN2JEEPN's original post of the "slim" battery he found at Wally World, maybe I should post it here...

For those of you who can't read my crappy pic, it reads-

0-31103 13252-7

MODEL # BATSET-12V

All of the specs are the exact same as the Nylints, but this one is slimmer, a little lighter, and gives you more mounting options.

Cost should be $20 or less depending on where you are. And a new charger also comes with it as well.

Whats up with people asking good questions, but then want a reply though a PM??

Umm, I would like to know the answer to!

Anyway, this battery that is slimmer from wal marts, how long is the run time with it? will it be the same or shorter? And is there anyone with it yet?

Default player ,would you know?

i notice these batteries look like my daughters power wheels bat.,alittle smaller i think.but in her power wheel i used a 12v motorcycle bat. and got like two week runtimes at an hour or so a day.now the weight issue would still be there, but the crotch rocket 12v bats are small enough i think they would fit in a nylint.will they work like in the powerwheels,or are we talking two totaly different batteries?

Well, if aslong as its 12v it'll work, but it may screwup the COG.

There are plenty of people that have them. The runtime should be the same since the specs are the same. It's a 4.5A just like the stocker.

Only time the runtime "should" change is if you go with a really small 12V batt that had less amps. For EX the one I'm currently planning on running (different from the Walmart "slim") is only a 1.8A, so I'm expecting less than half of the runtime.

You want to put in a thermal shut down thingy like the original battery. If you use a fuse, chances are you will be constantly blowing the fuse. If you do decide to go the fuse route, you will need a pretty high amperage Slow-Blow fuse. If you decide not to use a fuse, or thermal protector, then just let off the throttle if you get bound up. You do not want to stress the motor too much, it will draw incredible ammounts of amps, and you'll let the magic smoke out of the motor.

I have a question. I found a battery at wally world that is long and skinny. It says the exact same as the nylint battery except that it was 3.??A. As far as i can tell that would be ok i would just get a little less run time. Is this correct? I think its for some of the other 1/6 cars they have. It lists two or three cars to use it in. Ill try to get a part number or something later. If it will work i am planning on getting one and use it when i do the TT.

SlammedMini, go check a electronics specialty supplier, like Jameco Electronics, or uhh, whats it, Moser Electronics. Do a little searching, and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

Branman, if its a 12V battery, it'll simply have shorter run time. The main thing is 12V.

GET THAT IN YOUR HEAD PEOPLE! 12V IS WHAT MATTERS. [/rant]

I bet the Nylints could handle 14 volts. Not say they will, but I bet they should.
When they're fresh off the charger, the voltage is higher than 12v, and automotive systems are rated at 12V, but they sustain a 13.8V charge typically. Most 12V products designed for use in a car have safety cutoffs or a rated upper limit of 15V, because the charging system can, and does peak occasionally.

When you into reverse, dosen't it sound like a relay is switching or something?

Mine runs 12 cells right now and is around 17 volts when hot off the charger.

When my stock battery is off the carger it usually has a charge from anywhere from 13.8 to 14.2 volts or so.

The nylints I think have a regulator onboard, hence the reason these don't really slow down, they just start cutting out when the battery is getting low. I think they would handle 14.4 volts just fine and dandy.

I will add 1-4 cells to mine and post if something blows up. One thing is sure , it goes faster and steers much faster with 16 volts.

Science needs victims!

But why do the Nylints click when you hit reverse? Don't you hear it?
*Push trigger a little*
*click*
*release trigger*
*click*
*repeat*
