| You Have Got to See This !!
Well I got bored and decided to screw off for awhile So here you will find A TON of info about mods done to the trucks of the RCC community. Also There is listed some questions that are time and time again asked. If you ask a question and it is covered in this thread,we know you didn't take the time to do your homework.. So why should we take our time to help you? You need to learn to help yourself first, unless your just a spoiled little brat that was born with a silver spoon in your mouth Anyway - What truck is best for me? It all depends on what YOU want. There are shafty trucks ( those that have a transmission and driveshafts ) and then there are clods ( which don't have the trans). Everything is basically located on the axles of the Clod, which seem to give it a better fight in comps. The clod, along with the TCS Extreme chassis ( The Stick ) is a very great combo for comps. It keeps it lightweight and the CoG (center of gravity) very low. The shafty trucks such as a TXT,Maxx,TLT,etc are a bit more to build, since you have more components to add and the "torque twist" to fight from having driveshafts.People say the shafty trucks are more "real" to build.. so once again, it is all up to YOU as to what you want to do.If your not into the big trucks, you can go with a 2.2 truck such as the TLT or you could put 2.2 rims on any other truck and make it smaller. The reason it is considered a 2.2 is due to the size of the rims. Now here are some stickies that have been posted in each section for the truck. After reading these, they should have helped you decide as to which way you want to go. Clods TXT Maxx TLT Also, each section has a "members rides" section in there to get ideas aswell. What tire is best for my truck? Very simple answer- we can't tell you. It all depends on the following- your terrain, your truck, your setup of your truck, the weight of your truck,etc.etc. The best bet is to ask others in your area as to what the run and find is the best. So don't make a post asking for people in the Oregon area as to what they like, PM people. Some of the popular tires are the Moabs,LST's,Giant tracs. More of the tires and sizes can be found here Tires What can I do to my Nitro to have a good crawler? Sell the thing!!! Nitro sucks for crawling. Those 2 things don't even go together in a sentence. Don't even mention that freaggin Revo video that Traxxas has unless you convert your nitro over to electric, you are wasting your time Are MM motors, the TF truck, among other things discontinued since TowerHobbies lists them as that? NO! Just because Tower lists them as discontinued, doesn't mean they are. Once again, you should use that search button..Tower basically quit carrying Kyosho parts. You can try www.rc4wd.com or you can go with lathe motors what is a GD600? It is a gear reduction unit used from planes. you can get them here http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSL79&P=ML You will need to have the output shaft turned down to 1/8" to fit the pinions or if you run big enough pinions, drill them out. ohh well look what i found using the search for 30 seconds GD600 output gear Gd 600 Output pinon ? Now i know that most members have probably never seen this post that Bender had taken so much time in doing, so it is copy and pasted from his post. ZipZap Rockcrawler Also, there are a few more in this post Awesome Q & A - FAQ Now with all this in this post, I have just barely scratched the surface to the wealth of info that is on this board. There is A TON more info and this post could go on forever, but why should it? If people can't take some time to help themselves, why should anyone else take thier time to help that person? So if you have trouble finding the "search" button, let me help you find it here http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/search.php You can even search the whole board and not have to go to every section and do seperate searches. Trust the members that have been around for a long time and tell you, The search button does work. I found all this info in less than 30 mins But for some reason, I feel I just wasted 30 mins, because we all know that people don't like to read Last edited by TwistedCreations; 12-20-2005 at 09:27 PM. |

-All stupidity aside, I've just book marked that page on my browser. It's chock full of useful information and even includes some things that I wasn't aware were posted. It just goes to show the extent of a proper search.

Thanks guys..i will be adding to this probably all the time as people ask those repetitive questions..if you see and know of repetitve questions not listed right now, please post them up, along with the right answer and I will add them to this post. Then I will try and keep the thread clean so it doesn't turn into a 10 page thread that noone will want to read cause it has too many pages David- yeah i have my own crap i should be working on, but kinda hard with a dislocated elbow( well was) and screwed up nerves in it Radish- I didn't list the Nylint because it is a fawkin toy. I have 3 of them sitting here and I used to mess with them. But that kinda died out in a week Besides, the Nylint forums is like another Newbie forum.Once those trucks came out,it was like every kid and newbie came out of the woodwork straight to this site.Did they put a www.rccrawler.com sticker on the Nylints that I overlooked I would be here for a month listing those questions |

Hey Thanks TC for all the work you put into this. Just wondering why most of the Info is from 2004? The only bad things about that are the Broken links/pictures and the amount that the Tech side of this sport has grown since then. I do think this was a very good idea and there is alot of good stuff in this post. I hope your arm/elbow gets better. |

actually, it's in the sticky TLT to crawler thread, ... under the post by Thommy2Tone FAQ: TLT-1 to TLT-Crawler ***NEWBIES READ!!!*** You cut a dogbone in half and stick them into either ends of a 3/16" (or 5mm) spring roll pin. It's a tight fit so you need to be clever about getting it in. I'm trying out this method soon but haven't gotten round to it yet, so no updates on durability... but soon. |

Lots of really good info there. i still have question, are you guys really running the Integy lathes with a capacitor and are their timings adjustable?? Yes I read the post about the series vs parallel wiring and the UTRCRC page about the lathes but I haven't seen that exact issue covered anywhere else. I appreciate the forthcoming answers and possible flames!!! Tom |

some run caps on their motors. It is just a little added ins. to help against radio glitching. The 55t lathes have 2 different types.. one has 0* timing and the other has adj. timing. either can be used since you can adj. the timing to 0*.
