no one out there has done this? it also adds weight to help on climbs.

Most people who use foams will cut/drill holes in their tires or rims so the tire can breathe, this allows the tire to conform to rocks and get better grip. I can see how water would add weight but you can't vent the tires so they'll conform to rocks less and might have a tendency to bounce instead of grip. I've heard of people putting metal BB's in tires instead of foams, it helps with keeping the weight low in the tire but still allows it to breathe. They also won't fall out if they're bigger than the vent holes, water would leak out if you did vent the tires.

I've never heard of it but if it works for you, go for it.

I've used antifreeze a couple of times to get that bounce effect. Anymore I stick to either air for my scalers and foam for my crawlers. It's just easier and proven.

I dismounted mine, lined the wheel with automotive stick on wheel weights, then put the tires, and foam back on... works great. Has more weight, and still has the foam for tire support.

My only comment is.....it's fine when you have low wheelspeed....sucks when the wheels are running free. If the tire shape is less than true, the weight is off center.
It won't matter if you're running water, BB's, etc.

Just my take on it.

Yes, it's been tried.
No, I don't know how well it works.

Hit it right on the head. And not running foams makes your tires super floppy. They'll wad up in up hill climbs and roll to the rim on a side hill.

my rims are true beadlocks & they seal up really well. with the tire full of water and air they don't wrap up, roll over on side hills. they bite really good on the rocks just like our real buggys do. the only problem i have is mounting them with 3/4 water. it's a real pain. i like the idea the one guy posted about using wheel weight and foam. i think i will try that.

You can get a lot of them in there too! Just make sure you don't cover the air holes.

Not to be a prick but have you read any threads about traction or anything? The lead in the wheels is the normal way to do things. The only option that's much better is weight in the actual wheel design or knuckle weights.

Isn't the idea of a forum to generate NEW ideas that haven't been tried yet? If the water works well, who cares what the normal way to do things is.

Dude, just chill. First, you bumped a month old thread to start an argument, not cool. Second, yes, it is cool to come up with new things but if they worked really well then everyone would do it. There is a reason that foam tuning and weights have been around so long

From what I've seen on the forum ScaleFreak93 it's usually you that needs to chill. I had no intention of starting an argument or getting anyone exciting. I guess the all caps "NEW" sent the wrong vibe. I just figure if the guys wants to try water, let him.

I searched "water", "titles" only constrained to the "tire and wheel" section

beadlocks and water weight
Function of weights, water, lead, and foam?
water filled tires

if it works use it..the only problem i see is if you get a tiny hole in the tire it will deflate and now you have a flat...just my two cents....

Water, bb's (both metal and airsoft), sand, pie cutting foams, etc etc etc are all methods that were tried 6 or 7 years ago, there is nothing "new" about them. Since then, foam technology has come a long long way, and they're hard to beat.

Look around a little bit and you can't help but notice that there aren't many people who use the old methods anymore.

Oh I don't disagree with you Duuuuuuuuude. The guy just sounds like he's set on trying water in his tires. I would never do it because as you pointed out there are a lot better options out there but he seems to want to.
