| cms/panhard and home made links troubleshooting
currently building my first scx10. decided to go with a blue monkey rc cms/panhard with my own home made suspension links. while the axle moves through the suspension travel i noticed a very small variance in the axle staying centered al full compression the pumpkin center is about 2-3mm off. im concerned its because i have home made links. can anyone help me on troubleshooting this problem? |

i had these problems with a crawler. i think it had to do with the spacing between the upper and lower links on the body/frame side (Distance Bottom link hole To Top Link Hole)

Sounds like it's doing what it's supposed to do. The whole point of using a Panhard with a CMS is to move the axle slightly L/R as it goes up and down to eliminate bump steer. Without that L/R movement, steering angle would change as the axle gets closer to the frame. As long as your drag link and Panhard are parallel and of equal length, you should be fine.

Also, FWIW, I started out with the Blue Monkey CMS/Panhard kit. I like the CMS bracket, but the axle side Panhard bracket pulled loose after a few runs. I tried a bunch of things (new axle housing, Shoe Goo on the screws, etc) before concluding that the little L shape bracket with two screws didn't have enough anchoring strength to counter the force of the Panhard bar. I ended up buying the RC4WD kit just for the axle-side bracket because it also anchors using one of the screws next to the pumpkin. It works great now. If you come across the same problem I did, adding beef tubes to the front axle so that you can tap into the metal tubes to secure the bracket screws should also work. Good luck!
