Default Clayton Raceway Bay City, Mi

Welcome to the "Clayton Raceway" thread !! This thread is for any discussions or communications regarding the RC track in Nick's backyard.

First Things First: Thanks Nick for the opportunity to do this in your backyard

Track Details: 100 ft x 60 ft, 10 ft lanes, tabletop, singles, doubles, rhythm, off camber, sweeper. One lap around course = about 500 feet. Elevated driver's stand. Flexibility to switch very easily to oval track.

The layout was specifically designed to be an open, rather non-technical course. This is particularly helpful for those who do not have a lot of experience running their RC car on a track.

At this point, we do not plan on any organized racing. Just "run what you brung" and have fun ! Any 1/10 electric or nitro, 1/8 monster truck, 1/16 scale.

We hope to have it finished by late April or early May. I will be letting you all know when we are having track build day - that's when we could really use your help.

Hope to see you there !!

Track update April 11: We filled in a few low spots by hand, and then laid down all tube. No dirt or jumps laid down yet. Over the course of the day, track dried up quite well. Still a little too wet to begin building track though.

Half a dozen showed up today. We ran slash, 1/10 stadium truck, slayer, T-Maxx. Boy, what a hoot !

Mike, it was great seeing you yesterday. Nick, nice to meet you. I'm looking forward to doing some off road "Slashing" this summer.
I remembered last night that I have some used treated 4x4s in my barn. I think they are only about 6' long. There are 6 or 8 of them. If you can use them let me know and I'll get them up there next weekend. I'll check dimensions and how many later.

Thanks for the wood and the screws Pat !!

As far as money donations go - just give whatever you can afford - no pressure here - I know times are tough right now for all.

Rob - always good to see you - yes those 4x4's will come in handy - bring 'em by - thanks !

This week - we hope to pull tubes and roll the track area. This will prepare it for the dirt. It all depends on weather - hopefully it will stay dry.

Hopefully I will be picking up a "manual old school" scoring system this week.

Sounds good Nick. If you remember, measure from ground to top of hay wagon. If not, no big deal.

I have some 2x4x8'ers in the basement....guessing around 6 or 8. I also have a lot off deck screws. I took home about 50 pounds of them from work when we stopped selling them in bulk.

I had a blast running Nick's Slashes yesterday. Thanks man Let me know when help is needed.
