This build is exactly what I was looking for. I could ask a million questions, but the one I have to know... What are good donor parts/cars for a rolling chassis like this? I'm planning to build a '32 roadster and just can't figure out how to make the front end look that authentic and still functional.

It helps to have a friend with a mill You could use a semi-truck front axle, but it would take some doing to get the transverse-leaf setup on there. Rear axle is a TLT.

Yea I was thinking about the Tamiya semi front axle, but wasn't sure how big it would be at only 1/14th scale. The yota rear axle with a Fracture V8 was another thought.

Semi axle would work fine. It's 1/14, but it's 1/14 of a freaking semi

Outdoor pics:

Drives pretty good except for wanting to unscrew the left front wheel nut, and chucking the driveshaft out on big bumps. Tires work surprisingly well considering they're dog toys.

This is easily one of the best one-offs I've seen on here in a long time, if ever. You strike me as one of the people that enjoys building it more than driving it.

One suggestion I have though, and I don't even know if it would be possible depending no the thickness of the sidewalls, is to make the rear tires looks like cheater slicks. When ever I think of old ratty hot rods, I think of these tires on them.

I'd love to do pie-crust slicks. I have a single Pro-Line Maxx tire here, but it looks like I already cut the pie-crust part off. If I had a little patience I'd try heating a screwdriver and pressing it into the sidewalls, over and over and over.

Pie crust slicks rule! I plan on having a set for my 1:1 for sure. Stu, it looks like some 1/14 semi tires would have potential. They'd also work to replicate the traditional sawtooth Firestone with a little work.

Heck, this could be pie crusts or sawtooths depending on how much tread you sand off.

If only they weren't so small. I could probably get away with 'em up front, but they're pretty stiff; I'd have a hell of a time stretching them onto 1.9's (trust me, I've done it and it's a thumb killer)

If I had 3 or 4 extras I'd cut the crust off 'em.

I hear ya, Stu. I didn't think about their diameter being too short... Regardless, the rig kicks ass!

Thumbs up

The motor and pluming work are sweet. I love some thing you could seemingly jump into and drive. Realism rules keep up the sweet work.

Not sure how they are going to work traction/wear wise but what about the tires from some of the 1/8th hot rod kits-like the big T? I wanna say I think you even suggested this idea to me for my rat scorcher build (?) don't shoot me if I am mistaken. I am trying them out on a volksrod pickup project-soon to be posted. Using the fronts all around.
