Default old school maxx power plant?

I'm rebuilding an OLD (first gen) tmaxx into an oldschool e-maxx. I need a power plant (motor/esc) that is more reliable than the titans/evx but wont shred the driveline.

Are you looking for bashing, speed or crawling?
What kind of battery & voltage (NiCD, NiMH, LiPO.......6cell NiCD/NiMH, 3S LiPO????)
Any kind of budget limits?

Just a basher, the novelty of running my OLD truck and something for my daughter to run when she is another yr or so old. Speed isnt a concern, I would be happy at 20-25. Needs to be lipo (4s) ready since Im not even sure if they still sell nimh in any quanity (and I dont own any). Budget needs to be kept down, its a 10+ yr old truck so no since spending $400 on a power system. I was thinking maybe something like Hobbyking or Hobbypartz carries but, I dont want to spend $80 trying to save money and have it be a waste.

I still buy NiMH packs (with my pack connector of choice) from www.CheapBatteryPacks.com.

20-25....it that MPH??

Castle Creations makes some really good ESC's, you can run brushed or brushless (although brushless it not their forte.....).

20-25mph, I know its not fast but that short/narrow truck isnt going to handle much speed well. As it is I roll my race prepped new style maxx allot. (Never said I was a good driver)

I run castle stuff in most of my stuff but, to run 4s reliably I would need either a mmp or MMM and they are both out of the price range I would like to be at with this truck.

I was looking at
HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy 160A 1:8th Scale Sensorless ESC w/Fan
or
HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Hobby King 80A Sensored/Sensorless Car ESC (1:8/1:5)but, I hesitate not knowing anyone with experience with them.

For motor I would LIKE to find something in a 540 can brushless with a 5mm shaft but, which one and from where?

If you can afford it, I'd recommend the Hobbywing Xerun 80A 4168 combo from Hobbypartz for $136
HobbyWing M1 Brushless 1/8 Combo w/ XERUN 19T 4168SL 2250KV & 80A ESC for Off-Road Trucks & Buggy Version 2
Its almost a match for a Savage Flux 2350 system (4s, 2250kv and 1250W of power HOBBYWING TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD.) so 25mph should be no problem.
However, the 4168 motor is bigger than a 540.
