Default motor and esc

I am looking(still) for a motor/esc combo for my Tamiyas, and XV-01 and a TB01, both rally style.

This is 3000kv, is it enough?

They have one similar, practically the same cost, that is 4000kv.

It depends on where you're using your rally cars. Maybe it could be enough for short and narrow tracks, but not for open tracks. In any case, in my opinion, if i were you i'd order a sensored esc/motor, it's much smoother than any sensorless motor.

I run a reedy 3300 and a castle sv3 on 2s .. 31 87 gearing I think {stock rs4 rallt } ..with a slipper clutch .. bitch halls ass ..handles well .. dosnt get out of temp range ..very happy with it ..my buddy runs a tekin esc and I think 3900 in his Tamiya ...not much faster than mine with his set up

ran a traxxas 3500 in my rc rally legends was fast .. but car was a shit box car

on my other rs4 I think im going to run a novak 10.5 sensored system .. good price .. should be fast enough and super small
I always thought a good system for a rally would be the exo buggy 2900 .. waterproof brushless and peppy .. but wont break stuff .. just throwing it out there

If you're just a baseball diamond basher or a parking lot drifter then put something stupid fast in there, it just doesn't matter. I strongly suggest against a 550 size can though.

If you actually run off road/tarmac Rally courses then pick & choose wisely. I run a 13.5 sensored system in my Rally Legends and it works great for course racing, smooth power and perfect amount of speed, not so much for drag racing or bashing, it's a little slow in that reguard but that's not what I do.

Won't be racing, but occasionally running on a clay off road track. Mostly just bashing around. Definitely not interested in crazy fastness.

So, sensored motors, 540 sized. I want to use some inexpensive motors and ESCs in these two, I have 4 other RCs and a small budget...

Just hit ebay and look for an older castle creations Sidewinder combo. I have 2 XV-01's and I run SV2's with 5700kv motors and slipper clutches. They clock in around 45mph at full throttle, people are almost scared to drive them when they take the wheel at first. Just depends what you want to do, and how much space you have, but I haven't had an issue yet with the Castle Creations stuff.
