| A unique aspect of the RECON G6 Challenge™ is that two G6’ers can share the same G-Ride and depending on the G6, there may even be a team division. This is cool because a Father / daughter or a Mother and son or even a husband and wife can experience the adventure that is a RECON G6 Challenge™. The Joker’s Wild G6 saw a husband and wife team that really embraced the G6 lifestyle and they both drove the coolest r/c on the planet right now, the Axial Wraith. Yes, they both drove the same Axial Wraith and that Wraith was driven twice on each stage. A quick little math session and it calcs out to 550 trail markers and that’s 550 trail markers of the most grueling RECON G6 Challenge™ to date. The husband and wife team that accomplished this amazing task is Richard and Diana SleJmar. This duo had their Axial Wraith packed with scale items including a laptop that was on the RCC home page. It must have had a scale wifi card, but who was their carrier, because I had zero reception on my cell. Richard started the day off, but had some on stage issues and had to DNF stage 3, but the G6 will to complete stages is strong in a OG6’er and I watched intently as these to first time G6’ers gazed into each others eyes. It was obvious that quitting was not an option and that Richard was going to get the Wraith back into the Joker’s Wild G6 for his lovely wife Diana to have her go at stage 3. Diana faired better than her husband on stage 3 and she finished without any problems. The husband and wife team are in it to finish it, now and both were smiling ear to ear and I believe I saw a passionate kiss from Richard to let Diana know that she piloted the Axial Wraith to her and its first ever G6 stage finish. The rest of the Joker’s Wild G6 played out very well for this adventurous couple. Stage after stage, both Richard and Diana kept driving the Axial Wraith and each time they crossed the finish line, they rehydrated and put their Wraith back on the Poly Performance Start Block to tackle another stage. This was Richard and Diana’s first RECON G6 Challenge™ and I applaud their efforts. It was hot, difficult, and the most fun they have had sharing driving duties for a combined time of just under 4 hours. You read that correctly, 4 hours of actual drive time, give or take a minute. I believe that to be actual drive time, but I might have overheard Richard ran out of battery at a very scenic overlook that took a little time to recharge. Hmmmm, I don’t recall a lover’s look out skill challenge. Great job, Richard and Diana, on behalf of Axial Racing and RECON Crawlers, we are proud of your accomplishment with the Axial Wraith and we look forward to seeing you next time you need your fix in a RECON G6! |

WOW! It really is hard for this print not to sound biased, but I was bummed when the story was over. I lived this event and can't get enough of the recaps, vids, or pics. Thank you Matt, (skeeno), and Mike, (dragonturbo3), for the great Axial Racing blog and the pics that tell a story in themselves and ofcourse, big cudos for capturing one of the most epic G6 moments to date. The Hells Highway pic really looked ominous. RECON will see you two again when you need your scaler fix in a RECON G6! |
