| Redcat gen7 with 2.2’s?
Anyone try 2.2’s yet? I would probably mostly run 1.9’s but am curious if 2.2’s fit without rubbing on the chassis/shocks. I realize they would hit the body and bumpers. Think the stock axles, drivetrain etc would last with 2.2’s? Appreciate input from those who have tried 2.2’s.

The stock 1.9's rub, so 2.2's will rub worse.

I think some major trimming would need to be done to make it work. I put the stock traxxas wheels off my trx4 on my gen7 pro and they rub quite a bit worse than the stockers. They only seem to be little wider. I agree with smokin' joe that everything else would be fine though.

Haven't tried this. One of the challenges of fitting 2.2's to any vehicle designed for 1.9's is the tire outside diameter. In today's world, bigger is deemed to be better. Hence all the "XL" tires on the market today. I've seen 1.9's with a 5.5" OD! The major players in the tire market all seem to be doing this and the older, smaller models are disappearing. Or, at least I can't find them. Maybe some of the more obscure brands are available in the smaller OD sizes? I have a set of old 2.2 Flatirons, can't remember how old, and they are an almost perfect OD match to the stock Gen7 iRocks, 4.75". Haven't tried them on the Gen7 but the OD is right. I expect wheel offset and hex length would determine if they would rub on the shocks or chassis. |

I have been running rc4wd 2.2 boggers which are quite tall, since i got it i just raised the body no biggie. After having the young kids drive it like they stole whick consits of full throttle foward and back ward type driving the axle shaft slipped in the locker on one side- its plastic so it is going to happen

Thanks for all the info. Looks like 2.2’s won’t be a problem if I can make them fit the body. |
