Ok Gary, this is just for you . I have been working on the Super the last couple of days, instead of my scaler . Even though the scaler needs to be ready for Saturdays comp (only 2 days away). I have been racking my brain to figure out a slick steering set up on this rig, and this is what I came up with. Kinda a BTA / OTA steering. I am going to give this a try, and see how I like it. I have one more option to try that brings the steering rod over the motor and gear housing. But, not liking the geometry of the links and the servo movement. So, on to the pictures. Let me know what you guys think. Here are a couple pictures of the quick and easy servo mount. I will be making new ones once the testing is done. And here is a picture of my steering link. |

Here are a couple of pictures of the final set up for testing. All I have to do now is finish the other side, and install electronics. And then I can finaly go drive this thing . I so excited . But I will still need to mount some new shocks, make new upper and lower links, a ton of other adjustments. But, hay, why bother with the details |

If you are refering to the tab on the steering link, it is welded on with my MIG. By the way, was just looking at your new Super. That is sweet. It sure helps having someone like TURBOFEST to help you with it. He sure comes up with some sweet ideas.

Yea, the steering is insane . I can't take credit for it though. I learned by watching TURBOFEST . He posted up how to do it in Jason's super thread a few months ago. The tab is tack welded on top with two welds, and the bottom is welded all the way across. Still learning how to weld small stuff. I am used to 1/2" plate. |

Your steering looks great. I love how much angle you are getting out of those bully's. I need to do that mod to mine. I've been so slammed at work, I haven't even worked on mine for a week or more.

Holy ****, that steering is insane. Even with the links inboard you still rub!! Us clod boys are going to get it handed to us in the comps. |

I like the link, but your servo sticks out like an anchor. Trust me, with it like that you are going to get hung up on everything. I ran my berg for a while similar to that and it sucked big time.

Thanks Mica, I hope it will work as good as yours. I was thinking of that last night. I will keep this for the rear and make something a little different for the front. Even though the servo is above everything else on the axle.

Ok, with Wreckers sugestion, I did some thing a little different for the front steering. I have been trying to keep everything as low as possable, but I just couldn't get the room for the servo arm movement. ( I need tons of room to get all this steering ). So, I stood up the servo and worked on figuring out what I needed. I just have some temp. mounts done for the servo, and I will change after testing. I hope I don't need to make too many changes. For those that are wondering why I made my steering the way I did. I am trying to keep the steering out of the way of the shock mounts that are on the axles. I am going to be using them as soon as my new shocks show up. Enough of the Bla-bla-bla. Here are the pictures. As you can see, My helper was with me today. He loves working on the Rock Crawlers, or our 70 Charger. |

Here is my 4yr old showing off how much steering this thing is going to have . I think he likes it. And here is my work bench after woring on Four different projects: Welding up some rock sliders and rear bumper for my scaler, Welding and repairing a Berg steering link for my friend, Working on my Super, And staring to work on my 70 charger again (working on the front seats right now) What a mess. I think my son is camera shy, what do you think? I guess it is time for some cleaning. This might take me a little while. Last edited by 70duncan; 01-29-2010 at 09:59 PM. |

That steering looks much better. The small increase in cg of te servo will be well worth the gained clearance.
