Default Tydl's Super VIPER

Well, building my first super wasn't enough. I had to have a viper chassis too.

Problem was, C*H*U*D of Underground Crawlers doesn't make a super chassis

I talked with him, but he didn't have any extra of that precious commodity time, but was interested to see what I came up with.

I took as much inspiration as I could from the 2.2 Viper but it definitely got stretched!

I present my super viper

It was alot of work, but I think worth it! Its far from perfect, but I'm happy with the results. It was all done with some graph paper and a sharpie, jig saw and a dremel. I've still got a little work to do to it. I need to finish the skid. Hopefully this week I'll get more delrin for crossmembers and make em. I dunno why, but for some reason I thought 1ft would be enough

I will be making links this week, with some big high clearance for the rear, I think I'll make some low clearance for the fronts. The uppers will be 3/8 rod.

This is what I have at this point

Super Viper chassis
2x Super Bully axles
Crawl Spec knuckle weight holders
3.8 proline beadlocks narrowed(not finished)
proline MoabXL's
Hitech 7980 for the front
JR 8711 for the rear
2x BRXLs
2x Integy 55t
Dx6i

Thank you all for the help so far, and to think this roller coaster is just getting started

Thank you Bill. I was going to take you up on the delrin, but I have to pick up material for the links anyway.

the lower part of the chassis has an Rcp progress chassis kinda look to it. I wish I had the talent to do something like this. oh wait I do. let me rephrase that. I wish I had the equipment and wasn't so lazy.

Well, thanks, its not hard, I, like C*H*U*D, just lack time or it'd be done already be done.

Such humble beginnings

Got the link lengths measured out.

I setup wheelbase for 18" when compressed, got it on first shot! I did make sure nothing binds and I think I've got plenty of travel. I left the axles fairly unclocked for the caster, but am unsure what others are doing.

Wasn't able to pick up all my delrin for links and crossmemebers, so they'll have to wait till next week.

I still need to think about steering, kinda liking turbo's design. Definately going to 86 the steering

And then theres the electronics....

Lots to do, but I'm working on it

You know you can always help. I've cut up most of that delrin you gave me. Thank you.

Well, you know we've all been obsessed with 2.2 for a while, but I finally made the time to work on this thing. I really want to finish it in time for Nationals. I don't plan on comping it, probably be the maiden voyage. So much still to do.

I haven't drilled n tapped em yet, I need a drill press, without, I can't drill straight.

Next focus is the steering, but I've got some ideas... They just need to happen quick.

Got the links drilled and tapped. I think I will redesign them a little when I remake them in white. But they work for now. I have started working on servo mounts, will hopefully have something to show by the weekend, if I do, it should be coming with me to nats(I hope).
