No worries...it was just my curiosity getting the best of me. I've always hated the THUD you get when the rear trans cases finds a rock to get hung on...simply because I know it typically causes a problem with losing a critical line or having to back off and reposition. When I first saw the design of your rear case I immediately thought of my Super and how nice it'd be to have everything tucked up nice and tight to the tubes.

If you can keep the MT locker, its allows a much bigger tang and I think that would be the best answer.
Alright, well knowing they survived with your driving for awhile gives me faith. I'm pretty easy on stuff apparently, I've never broken a stock berg 3rd or my plastic gears in the rear even with 7.5" tires. So they'll probably hold up fine.

Dlux. With these cvds your your making.
What's the shaft diameter? Would they fit in bully lockers/gearboxes?

I've done 14x8 bearing mod on my super, made my own knuckles to fit the scx10 chubs. I'm just looking at an option of different cvds for more steering, plus I've broken a few cvd pins. So I'm looking at beefing them up.

Yeah, I think for most they will be fine. I have a loose theory that the only reason people break them in Bullies is because the stock CVD pin is weak, it bends and then binds the CVD causing the shaft to break at the ball, not the tang. Get some better pins if you get the Bully CVD.

Its 4.5mm in diameter, too small for the Bully locker.

You did a 14x8 bearing mod? Shoot, I wish I would have known somebody else did it a long time ago. Did you run a 3.5mm wide or 4mm wide bearing?

Thanks for the heads up. Sucks that's its so small.
Can you tell me the make anyway? Might be able to sort something out.

I didn't do the 14mm bearing mod ages ago. I'd say 3 weeks or so. I've still not ran the car with the mod. I used 2 bearings 4mm wide. Since I was making my own knuckles I made the bearings mount like the stock ones. Plus I only found 4mm bearings which is to wide to mount on the bully stub.

The shafts are Ofna brand. There are a lot of them out there in different sizes, but none that I have found in different diameters.

You dont have a build thread do you? If not, it sounds like you need one.

While waiting for my bearings, I took a look and wanted to get as little scrub out of the rear as possible. The hubs I was going to use were already pretty small, equivalent to a .100 SLW hub but I wanted more so I turned the hub down a bit, put a new pin hole in the hub and cut the end of the shaft down. I ended up with a .000 equivlent hub. I did some simple math and I believe I have .450" worth of scrub, not too bad, I am not sure how you would get less?

.100 equivalent on bottom, .000 equivalent on top.

I got my bearings and the car is complete. Now I just need to take it for a spin and I will also get some completed pictures. I am excited to test the new setup!

Here is an above shot. I used to have the front and rear axles the same length so you can see how much scrub I used to run by looking at the front and you can see how little there is in the rear.

Thanks!

If my memory serves, I think it was 5lb 5.5oz. Thats with no added weight and beadlocks. I weighed my bead locks and if I went to glue on, I could save 1.2oz per wheel or 4.8oz total. Meeehh.... I dont know that I care right now. I think I will keep the beadlocks.

No problem. I will get some shots when I take it out driving.

I am just glad its done. Having to build these new axles for everybody and build a super is pretty taxing. Now I just hope to get a day here and there to drive my cars and enjoy them.
