Wow, only 2.25lbs, I might keep the fat off this thing yet. I might be able to stay under 9lbs with the right gear.

I'm thinkng under 8 is possible,I know my servo,velineon vxl3s esc and motor,and a 4000mah 3s lipo weighs 1lb5oz...so that's roughly 3.5lbs,USA1 tires are rc4wd delrin wheels are roughly 4lbs,so that's 7.5lbs roughly for a final weight...I said roughly right..

well was thinking of what you guys are saying of trying to save weight, I might try doing 1/8th in rod were the fram doesn't need to vary strong. just were it needs it for looks. like some of the cross bars in the cage work. might try it on my rig when I have some time to experement with it, see how it looks. I know the full size monsters use the same size of tubing for the hole tube fram, but the rc's woulden't need to be that strong. so will see how the 1/8th in. looks first before I say I'll build them that way.

I was thinking the same thing actually. You could do the basic structure out of 3/16, and everything else out of 1/8. You could even try doing the whole chassis out of 1/8, I did many brass tube chassis out of 1/8 and you still get a good scale look.

tig welding 1/8th in. is a really big pain, trying to weld 3/16th is hard enof. at lest building it out of the bigger rod, it'll be able to get snot beat out of it, and not break. but I can allways braze it instead of tiging it.

Stick with tig, can't beat it for joint strength.Just make mine out of 3/16" aluminum..

Ah I see, well that sucks! I got bored today and broke out the fab tools and some aluminum stock, whipped up a set of sway bar arms for the digger. The pics kinda suck, but you get the idea. I still need to do a lil clean up on them, but I'm pretty proud of them.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty proud of them. I'm working on them with a file right now, getting them all pretty and ready for polish.
