This build is awesome. If it crawls half as good as it looks it will be impressive. It's great to see all of the creative thinking that went into this. I hope you will post a video as soon as it is finished.

Hey man, I like what you have done there but you are realy blowing it with those body mounts, you should have made them vertical, there gonna screw you were there at.

Well, i got about 15 minutes in before destroying a portal. Took it apart to find the pins and bolts were broken. Might mess with them later but put the regular knuckles back on tonight. Got a comp on Sunday and I'm running out of time. As far as the chassis goes. It should be about right once I get the braces I planned for installed(Still waiting arrival). It's a little to flexy in the rear. The one's I put in it worked but it needs more throughout the length of chassis. Here's a couple video's, sorry only got a little due to portal blowing up. Hopefully it will last longer without them. To bad I'm lossing all the clearance. As for the Raptors. They were geared alright(at best) with 65T motors and 8t pinions with the portals. Now that I will lose the 1.5 reduction in the portals I'm going to be having a hard time. I'll pick up some 75T motors and hopefully they will help a little. Looks like modifiy the case for 6t pinions is next. Just hope the crappy gearing will make-do this weekend. Little Gap. Little climb. BROKEN PORTAL. Last edited by H3RESQ; 06-01-2007 at 12:14 AM. |

Finally got to see it move. Too bad for that portal. I think that truck is going to be at nationals! ...maybe? Awsome build man. Maybe I could make you paint my 2.2 body for me.... were those the rocks at your house? and have you used your 2.2 on them yet? |

The rocks are at a pit up in Capitial Forest off the E-line past the Correctional facility. No I haven't had the 2.2 up there.

That was pretty cool. I think it would do better with out the portals. I could see it reacted alot like a Pimp Cane and a Stick... Maybe you found the best of both worlds....I might try something alot like this on my New build.

Well you were right. Ran it tonight and it did alot better without the portals. The gearing SUCKS. When it binds and finally "pops" over something it shoots like a rocket cause the gearing is so high. I'll deal with the gears after this weekend. I just need to cut the tires and it should do pretty good. The big question will be answered on Sunday when I run the tennis balls. I'm going to make a couple small changes and cut a new chassis next week also. The rig still has alot to go for comps, but mostly with the axle's(gearing) and portals(I may never install the portals again). I think the chassis will work out alright after a couple small tweaks.

Well it's been slow on getting the finish spots on Sunday. Did enjoy the out of state comp though. Orcrc was and is always good to us out of town travelers. I think I came in about 4th. Rough guess. Binding because of the gears was a HUGE problem. I ordered 2:1 motor reductions today. It will make for some shock location adjustments I'm not happy about but gearing is more important. The chassis performance was great. VERY stable with the CG so low. I can't wait for the gearing to be right. This chassis has alot of potential. I think my scores were a 9/36/1 |

Added RC4WD motor 2:1 gear reductions today. Due to the reducers adding .70 inches to the motor they came out past the links so I had to change the links alot. Kinda f-ed the 4link geometry a little. Still seems to work well though. The big thing was I ran 2 more battery packs with 0 breakage and alot more usable gearing. I'm starting to like the thing. Making sure the pinion lines up right and doing the MANDATORY lock tighting of RC4WD parts. Notice motor width with reuction units VIDEO TO COME |
