Default Leaky Shocks

Hey guys, just noticed my stock dampers are kind of leaky. I built them as per the instructions, but used 55wt silicone, instead of the supplied oil. (which looks like a tiny urine sample)

Are these things just leaky by nature, or not cool with silicone?

How much use have they been through since you built them? It might be as simple as rebuilding them again. Make sure you lube the O rings before installing them.

Not sure. The outside of 3 of them is damp. I've never had shock leak like this before. Then again, I've never owned stock plastic shocks, either.

I used Green Slime during assembly, made sure everything was primed and ready to go. I'm going to get some time in on the truck before I tear into them. I built the truck almost 2 months ago and it hasn't seen anything rougher than carpet yet.

Mine leaked a little when I first built them but then I just tightened them all up and rebuilt them and they were perfecto!

These shocks seem to never leak - have an set from the original Jeep XC chassis, and they are still leak free! When assembling the shocks at the top, I usually put a layer of silicone oil on top of the bladder edges. Otherwise, when screwing the cap on, the bladder can grab on the lid and twist - might be something to check into.
